  1. So 2 of the 5 named storms this season haven't come from the UKMO naming list
  2. Sadly, there are always those who insist on ruining things for the majority.
  3. I think a better system personally was the old up and down vote, rather than the "emoji" style ones. Either way, it's not something I miss personally and the forum works fine without it.
  4. There were certain people who were too cowardly to actually challenge a viewpoint and would use the laughing react to undermine someone. Really was pathetic.
  5. In my experience, once you get past new year you're not going to get any bargains. I reckon you've got a month or so. I booked mine in August and got a direct to Denver for £470-something from Heathrow, and not with crappy BA
  6. I got a cracking deal too. I'm on 3 and 4 though, staying an extra few days at the end too.
  7. Folks, if you report a post please don't respond to the offending post. You're just making extra work for us and if you repeatedly do it then you're running the risk yourself of having posting rights restricted.
  8. I'm lucky that I've got a parking garage in my block of flats, never have to scrape the windscreen
  9. To be fair, the EC has temps of 5-7c for most, so based on that it's not much different.
  10. The EC remains pretty much a warm outlier towards the end of its run. Pretty much the entire ensemble plume for the UK is below average, with 75% of the extended ensembles remaining below normal for the duration, 50% are 3c below the norm in the final week of Nov. So fingers crossed the EC op follows suit!
  11. I believe so! I've never really understood the point of having thermostats on radiators either?
  12. I'm pretty sure it will continue until it heats up to 20c.
  13. Feels like this thread is starting to run its course, the above posts aren't really discussing the issue at hand (the report). Prove me wrong and show this thread isn't dead for meaningful discussion or we'll close it. Cheers.
  14. Folks, I know we're taking a bit more of a laid back stance in this thread but a lot of posts at the moment really add nothing to the thread. I feel like we repeat this every winter, but posts like "eyes down, here comes the 12z" and just posting charts with no comment other than "120h GFS" aren't exactly the kind of posts we want to encourage. Please add some substance to your posts or we're going to have to start being more strict in cleaning up nothing posts.
  15. Yes, classic case of "if only it was a month later!". Great synoptics but the proper cold simply isn't there yet.
  16. But the chart says "snow depth", if it was "snow falling" then fair enough!
  17. Ah it's that time of year to say this until I'm blue in the face...Those "EC snow charts" are in no way representative of what the EC is actually showing. Temps and dew points both above freezing on that timeframe, it would be a load of cold rain. Whoever came up with the algorithm for those charts was clearly hunting for clicks, they were atrocious last winter.
  18. 50mph+ gusts likely inland late tomorrow and overnight, 60mph over coasts. Surprised it's not being named...
  19. The Dallas local govt didn't help themselves. They had to go to each one individually to manually turn them off!
  20. So the media are now banding "Storm Adrian" about as it has been named by the French met service. Does this mean that it won't be named by the Met Office? The farce resumes.
  21. Alright that's enough on Christmas songs It's now at the time of year where I go to bed in the dark and wake up in the dark when doing nights, will have to get some Vitamin D supplements. Today is the first time I've seen daylight since Saturday. Love this time of year though.
