Model thread gone a tad quite, what happened, thought we were heading towards one of the coldest Marches on record. BOOM!!!

This thread died quick.Signs of another cold shot later in the month looking less likely now, probably explains the lack of posts in here.
Might as well shut it down once their is no sign of any cold weather around!

The average temperature here for the last 7 days is -4,0, which is the same average as we have during the coldest part of the year aka 2nd week of january, impressive cold spell for being almost mid march.
Might even get a SSW event for the Winter then imagine how cold it could get.

Central England Temperature in northern Scotland, how does that work?
Hadley CET 3.4 or an anomaly of -2.3C up to the 11th.
Met Office Hadley Centre Central England Temperature Data Download
WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UKI meant the average temperature for Northern Scotland for the Month is going to be way below Normal if we get another very cold outbreak of air from the North or North East!

Another cold outbreak from the N/Ne again later on this month is looking possible. You would not rule it out.CET for March in Northern Scotland going to be way below normal if that comes off.
Very cold air in the Arctic.Iceland been having a very cold winter and now Spring.

Still no lying snow here this winter and now spring. Can't remember the last time we have had lying snow here, anyone?
Still have chances this even though its spring , a bitter Easterly not off the cards yet further ahead
Or head to Iceland, incredibly cold there at moment, they just had a very cold December too, one of the coldest for 100 years, is this signs of change in ocean currents, they would be the first to see the difference..

Looking like more snow chances in this month, looking at the models today.
Thanks for the pictures.
I have just seen some sleet so you never know I might see one flake of snow fall from the sky
How did March 2013 happen, even here we had 3ft snow drifts mid-month.

Thought around 50cm be the sweet-spot, not going to be far out, lots of pics please later, we only have memories of these conditions from the 80s

This is old school weather, plenty of these type of snow events back in late 70s to late 80s,lsts hope we see more of this going forward
Why are people complaining about snow in here, thought the more the merrier in a weather forum, where you join to talk about extreme weather.

Anyone here from Nethy Bridge, used to holiday there in the summer as a kid, loved it there, had a great little golf course too, don't know if it's still there or not..
Must be some decent snow there and very cold at night.
Northern Scotland looking like staying very cold for a while yet, could be a very cold CET month by the end.
Hoping to get up to Caingorm in April.
Keep the pics coming, still no lying snow here this winter:(

Northern Scotland staying very cold for the foreseeable, a very cold month up there looking likely.
Less cold elsewhere, but wouldn't take much for the cold to come flooding South again.
Looks like nobody's interested anymore,no posts for over an hour? but it has even snowed and settled here on South Coast up to early April. 2008 one example.

Don't forget post pics everyone, for us on the South Coast that don't see snow any more.
Greenhow village the sweet spot I'm going for around 50cm plus!

Snowing here at work at Gatwick and settling everywhere at 249 ft, just raining on the coast at home, same every time now
-
Yes the models have been Woeful in tracking down the path these low pressure systems are going to take, ukmo the worst, its been useless

Surely at 800ft on the South downs can get some snow, I can drive there in 10 mins if not time to jack this hobby in.

No snow I reckon, doesn't even feel cold and mosquitos are flying around
Where are these deep-cold easterlies the SE used to get with Kent East Anglia in particular buried in the stuff, this is nothing in comparison
- 2
-
I have just seen a mosquito in the garden so I'm going for no snow here in my location the next 48 hours.
They are pretty good forecasters of less cold weather.
Further North looking good, but feel sorry for people having to drive in the snow, the way some idiots drive these days.
Bad enough in normal weather but in snow, going to be some bad accidents namely 4 make of cars that seems to drive like total moby dicks, no thought about others on the road, tailgating, undertaking, reckless driving speeding, etc
BMW AUDI MERC RANGE ROVER, you know who you are. Please take care out there on the roads when the snow starts.

Can you see what BFTP is suggesting?
With all due respect to BFTP, all it is, is rhetoric to me, its like a politician promising the land of milk and honey without anything to show how it will happen.
He thinks its going to be historic this snow this week? Like people climbing out of upstairs windows onto the snow and trains buried like in March 1891?
Thats what I call historic, nothing like that is going to happen this week, just a normal snowfall for March only place they may be digging themselves out is at the cairngorm restaurant at 3600 ft , not sea-level

Gfs brings back very cold Arctic air at the end of the run. That's too far out yet to get that excited, but in the nearer term we seem to be moving towards the cold air in the North, that never leaves Shetland moving back South after the weekend.
Very interesting charts still and ECM was keen on colder air returning too.
Yet hardly any posts, despite the chance of very air cold returning.
