  1. Does anyone have snow/sleet? I Can't see anything on the Long Mynd or Clee Hill. Looks like snow to low levels in Scotland — bit of a surprise if you are hoping for some summer-like hill walking!
  2. Very breezy here, much more so than I expected. However, we do have sun and that helps compensate for the wind.
  3. Will the warming of the past few days have any bearing on our summer weather? http://ds.data.jma.go.jp/tcc/tcc/products/clisys/STRAT/html_e/pole30_n.html
  4. Also by this time last year northern blocking was established. There is none (yet) this year, so the background signals may be different for the summer which hopefully means that it won't be as wet or cool.
  5. Just 3C here this am at 93m asl, so the Shropshire hills may have a bit of wet snow on them.
  6. Heating back on and the fire is lit. we had the heating off for a few days earlier, but the temp in the house fell to 14C, so it has gone back on - far too chilly. We have now been lighting the woodburner virtually every day since the start of September, that is over 8 months of fires.
  7. Apparently there is proper snow on Dartmoor in Princeton! Just 5c here, so higher areas could see some snow especially in heavier bursts.
  8. That is a pretty dreadful prospect - hopefully it will down in time for you to enjoy the winter snow!
  9. Happy birthday MS. It could be worse — you could be 50!
  10. Are you sure they are tadpoles — mid-May is late even for northern Scotland!
  11. My guess would be about 6 weeks. I say that simply because, over the past few years, that seems to be how long each weather pattern sticks around for.
  12. Couple of rumbles here just south of Ludlow
  13. Have you thought about relocating Conor, even a few miles?
  14. Even though the wind has dropped, it still seems pretty cool in the breeze outside
  15. Had some 50mph gusts here a while ago. Few spots of rain now.
  16. Doubled the spawn overnight. Looking very promising now and better than last year, and still plenty of action in the pond.
  17. A bit more on the effects of the aftershocks felt in Saudi http://www.emirates247.com/news/emirates/earthquake-shakes-uae-many-buildings-evacuated-2013-04-09-1.501973?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=dlvr.it
  18. Will it be "sunny" or "cloudy' warmth? And will it be windy, taking the warm feel-good factor away?
  19. Last proper rain around Ludlow was mid March. After that we had snow and cold. For the very first time in months, the ground around here has started to dry out properly. Can still see plenty of snow on Clee Hill, and a few bits and pieces in the field edges a bit higher than my house (93 m ASL). Farmers wanting the warmth to get the grass to grow so that the cows can come out of winter sheds.
  20. Still waiting here — all croaking and no action!
  21. Final bit of snow melted in the garden yesterday — fantastic run of snow days. Still plenty of snow in the Shropshire hills. Clee Hill and Long Mynd (which I can see from my garden) are still white!
  22. Croaking tonight, and definitely saw 4 frogs in the pond. Temperature now a few degrees below freezing so the pond will be icing over (again). No bees here either, or butterflies. mind you, apart from daffodils and a few primroses, there is still no blossom so just as we'll they are not out and about perhaps.
