  1. Yes, the dry outlook is really important. The snow melt has made all the fields soaking wet again, pools of water everywhere. Even in the garden, standing on grass is squelchy, and water comes around your foot. Hopefully, the ensembles are right and it really is a dry outlook for a couple of weeks at least.
  2. Well done! I will miss your analyses.
  3. Similar here Conor. Nice blue sky and sun. Will help to put some heat into my polytunnel and get the veggies going!
  4. Pond still freezing every night, so still no action. I hope they can hold on!
  5. If our part of the northern hemisphere (NH) is locked into cold, is another part of the NH locked into anomalous warmth?
  6. Quite a few snow flurries here, not enough to pitch. Still cold at 1.6C and not much thawing going on.
  7. Didn't we have a strong northerly tracking jet when we had the milder, wet spells in December and January this winter? I thought it had only gone properly south in February.
  8. Few snow flurries here this morning, though nothing appearing on the radar.
  9. "Fraid so Mr Benn. It looks like we may get some snow next weekend, but this, as ever is FAR from certain.
  10. Since the UK has barely any gas (1.4 days supply!), if the cold continues we'll be on rationing (gas and of course, electricity)
  11. Just started snowing here, 6miles south of Ludlow. Temp below freezing and about 15cm on the ground already.
  12. Pond now frozen. No sign of any frogs or spawn. Is it possible that it will be too late for the frogs to lay any?
  13. Wow, that's going to take a while to melt! Stopped snowing here now. About 15cm, better than January.
  14. I'd say you won't be going anywhere for a few days. Bet you are glad you got the logs in now!
  15. About 12cm here just south of Ludlow, and still snowing. I expect Clee Hill has about a foot at least.
  16. Forget it. Stay at home and enjoy the snow.
  17. About 1 cm of slushy snow here. Sleety rain starting up.
  18. I'm well over 30 and enjoyed 1963, so not excited yet, but I'm open minded:-)
  19. MetO forecast for Thursday night/Friday has shifted from rain to all sleet/snow for here, so as I am at the extreme west of the region, and quite far south too, that should mean virtually anyone in the Midlands might get snow/sleet.
  20. I've got a nearby hill to the west and northwest which means I can't see the horizon, so i think I'll need to wait until the comet gets a bit higher in the sky. Shame because we had perfect sky conditions last night, and a stunning crescent moon.
  21. Still nothing here — very late this year! Haven't even had any frogs/toads croaking the past few nights, it's just too cold for them.
  22. Just looked out of the window, and we have proper snow falling! Very unexpected.
