  1. We have the industrial heat & radiation of ICI to factor in. 3ft of snow gone in an hour
  2. Super icy everywhere this morning from a partial thaw-freeze overnight. Temp was -0.1C when I woke up. Car doors were frozen shut which is cool. 5/6C today surprisingly. So even if we’d have gotten a foot of snow overnight, it would have all melted away.
  3. edit: Just revising this before someone else jumps down my throat, I had someone holding the phone. a little video of the snow here
  4. Just checked the min/max, didn’t think we’d get to -3.0C last night. Good stuff! This winter has produced some really low minimums. Even though 90% of the winter so far has been mild and depressing
  5. I actually have it down as completely missing Buxton just because someone I know lives there
  6. Been snowing and sticking for about half an hour. No marginality. Lovely to see.
  7. More awful weather to start the day. The wind was really bad last night and has ripped my greenhouse apart. Need to sort that today. Just rinse and repeat cycle now till Monday really isn't it. I've lost count now of how many bad days we've had since that cold spell in December ended. Starting to get me down.
  8. S u n s h i n e.... I've been flicking through the forum and noticed people using that word, could someone tell me what it means? A quick Google search refers to it as a huge burning ball of gas 147.13 million KM away, but I can't recall seeing it this year... Jokes aside, if it's drier weather you're after, then this chart at D12 is great!
  9. Will the endless rain train ever stop? You'd be forgiven for thinking it was still night time this morning, so dark. 6.1C. A weak transient ridge of high pressure tomorrow should allow some of us to at least see some sunshine, though there will still be some rain around. There's some interest around the day 7 mark, with the prospect of some cold PM incursions, should bring some more seasonal temperatures and wintry showers on the strong flow. Could even see the all-famous Irish Sea hailstone showers nearer to the coasts. Shouldn't be much in the way of marginality despite the temperatures either thanks to a super low pressure gradient, the DAM well below 0C across the country (see screenshot). After that, rinse and repeat really, but it looks like the pattern is finally evolving and moving towards something slightly more interesting. Finally.
  10. Those islands have a super consistent diurnal range. I monitor the temps there rather closely in the summer, it’s near-nailed on that each day & night are going to be around the same (time of year respective). As mentioned above, they’re tiny & surrounded by water. It’ll be broken in the coming years though I’m sure.
  11. Anyone remember what the sun looks like? Seems like an eternity since I’ve see it. This pattern has been the worst I can remember in years. Same old
  12. For a SSW’erly, it’s bloody bitter. Hands are frozen in minutes. 5C, again, cold for a SSW’erly
  13. What an awful 3 weeks of weather. It just doesn't seem to end. Where's our sunny, crisp days? Our fog, snow, ice, hail? Convection from the Irish Sea. Really starting to depress me now, endless days of absolute rubbish, can't even remember the last time I saw the sun. Models are so uninspiring. No chance of anything wintry this month.
  14. The shower turned briefly to hail, then to sleet. Now back to rain, proper weird day
  15. No blue sky here. Raining for ages. 3.0C. Wonder if it’s gonna be a late spring this year? So many trees still have loads of leaves on. Unusual for this time of year
  16. Is there anything this region can’t achieve? This world will do anything to stop the NW receiving the snow. Time to move!
  17. 850s are currently -4/-5, that’s more than enough with surface temps this low. Unsure why it’s happening
