    Max. 10.2C today with a Min. last night of -2.1C. Glorious 1st day of Spring on St. David's Day. Anyone see any mad March hares?

    Another non-descript week for Perth. Cold + no snow = expensive heating bill. No good in my books. If we can't get some snow roll on Spring. (Major TOORP over).

    Another glorious day in rural Perthshire. Maximum today 8.6C minimum last night -3.7C. It's going to be another cold one!

    Telescope is out (Meade 10" Schmidt Cassegrain). Sky is amazing - cloud has dissipated and humidity is only 87% so not much dewing yet. Already checked out Jupiter, Orion Nebula, Andromeda Galaxy and several open and double clusters. The Heavens sure do declare the Glory of God the Creator (Psalm 19.1).

    Maximum 10.6C today. High cloud in situ which makes poor seeing for astronomical observation unfortunately.

    With max. temps. of 2-3C by Thursday-Friday and the Sun moving ever closer to the The Tropic of Cancer, I am not expecting anything from an Easterly snow shower regime no matter how good. We need to be realistic from now on.

    Sun has broken through, hooray. Temperature now 6.3C, the same as yesterday's max. on what was a dreich day. Conjunction between the Moon and Jupiter tomorrow night (the moon will pass within 1 Degree of Jupiter). They are both in Taurus the bull in the SW evening sky.     It was cloudy here at the time of the asteroid's transit OTR. As I was telling my 18 year old this morning that is typical when something is happening in the sky. If you and the children ever want a night of telescope observing just PM me. I have four telescopes and accompanying lenses and eyepieces. My boys just aren't interested.

    Temperature now falling 3.1C/+2.2C (-0.2C/hour). Just put the bin out and it is lashing down.

    Temperature 3.3C/2.4C and it wont budge - straight line on graph for past two hours, amazing.

    Maximum today +3.7C at 12.38. Now +3.3C/+1.5C (-0.3C/hour).

    Yes LS we appear to have a micro-climate here where we can be the coldest anywhere to 30 miles radius on a frosty night and where we hold on to lying snow after it has disappeared elsewhere. Concomitantly in marginal setups we just can't get those temps. down enough.

    Depending on the contents of the said glass Edo, the fact that it is half full may be the reason for the optimism!

    It could well be the stagnation of the air trapped in the Glen Almond and the higher humidity in proximity to the river Ally. You will get better mixing of the air at your level. Humidity dropping rapidly now, down to 86% with DP fallen to +1.1C though the temperature is still climbing, 3,2C (+0.2C/hour).

    Interesting again to see our temperature differential Ally, especially the large DP differential.

    We just haven't managed any deep cold this Winter OTR. The Minimum last night was +2.1C at 06.15 and that is a very poor starting point for anything snowy. Now 3.2C/+1.5C and climbing steadily (+0.4C/hour).

    Temp. 2.9C/+1.6C (+0.4C/hour). Not expecting any accumulating snow for Perth today - another slushfest possible overnight. Working in Blairgowrie Monday to Wednesday and that road from Luncarty via Ballathie is lethal without snow.

    Not hopeful about later as Temp. now +3.9/+0.8 (+1.4C/hour). Off to work.

    BBC News24 Weather calling an increasing risk of snow on Sunday with usual warnings about travel plans - nothing more specific.
