  1. Interesting that it's snowing both North and South of here, but still rain in Swindon. Not even sleet as far as I can see.
  2. Can report lovely rain in Swindon. Had a few flakes earlier but now back to rain. looking at the radar it also looks like the system is rotating around us and then sinking south so no heavy precip for us. congrats those that have had some of the white stuff!
  3. Heavy mix of rain/sleet/snow here in Swindon - pepps up to snow in the heavier precip but soon calms down back to rain fairly quickly. Very much on-off!
  4. Just had a quick look outside at my lamp post and can confirm we have extremely light snow falling! Crazy since radar shows nothing over us now in Swindon.
  5. Radar says sleet at the moment here, a quick look out the window tells me it's definitely just rain.
  6. Does anyone have the model discussion threads from 2009/2010 archived? I remember it being exactly like this with lots of upgrades until 5 daysish before the start of the cold, then lots of downgrades, then lots of confusion and mentions of shannon entropy, and then lots of upgrades again just as the main event started. Would be interesting to compare then to now!
  7. B63 mate, go back half an hour and you should see the system passing just by me on the radar.
  8. Staying at my mother in law 's place in Wroughton (just south of Swindon). Just seen the first flash here! Yet the storm is still at least 30 miles away! Crazy stuff!
  9. Still belting it down here in Halesowen (B63) although looks like it may stop within the next 20 mins according to the radar. Still, very happy with this and it's been lovely to watch, just hope it doesn't melt by morning!
  10. Moderate rain here now Off to bed for me I think! Night all, good luck to everyone!
  11. Back to drizzle here in Halesowen, very very light though, can only tell when the odd spot falls against the window.
  12. Snowing outside! From seemingly absolutely nowhere! Seems that the shower formed roughly over Wolverhampton just before 11pm and has slowly made it's way south! Lovely surprise as it's relatively heavy too Light covering on everything now.
  13. Have a 2cm covering here in Halesowen. Makes it look quite pretty!
  14. Yup, A solid 6 degrees according to the car all the way from Halesowen to Wolverhampton.
  15. Storm just passed over here in Wolverhampton. No flashes from what I could see, but we all had a good laugh at the single person trapped in the smoking shelter thanks to the torrential rain that lasted for 10 minutes.
  16. Just got a message from one of the other engineers on the shop floor, apparently it was our factory that was struck by one of the lightning strikes and now a load of our machines have decided not to want to work any more. I thought the thunder was a bit loud!
  17. Had a couple of lightning strikes here in Wolverhampton so far, not as frequent as the last storm we had here but welcome none the less!
  18. As awesome as this looks, it also looks bloody terrifying. Can someone explain what's actually happening here? I can see rain behind the lowering but is there rain from that too? Is that where the most severe part of the storm is?
  19. Well several people in the office will need a change of pants now after we just had a lightning strike maybe 100yards away and proper gunshot loud thunder. Scared the bejesus out of me! Awesome! Practically night here now it's that dark!
  20. Light rain here in Wolverhampton (WV9) at the moment, but the sky is VERY dark and just had a crack of loud thunder. I'm guessing we should have some heavy rain soon!
  21. Anyone from the Midlands area planning on chasing tonight or tomorrow? I'm new to the area and don't know any places to view storms from!
