  1. Been a gorgeous day here, not a single drop from the sky and pretty much unbroken sunshine all day. Bring on spring and storms I say!
  2. Well it's absolutely hammering it down outside under this squall line! Really windy!
  3. Jesus! Glad you're alright. What part of Swindon you in? Must have been the flash I saw here in Covingham.
  4. Just had a flash of lightning and a rumble of thunder here in east swindon
  5. That's if it gets here, seems to be slowing down on radar. Bit worried about it only scraping us.
  6. I'm pretty sure that I remember that yesterday, people were saying that the system should drag the cold air in with it as it rotates. Or am I imagining things?
  7. Just checked EX31 for you and I'd stay up as it's heading straight for you!
  8. Just been out to take the missus to an urgent hospital appointment. Very nearly got stuck in the hospital car park! As Sainsbo says, most roads are gridlocked with cars skidding all over the place. The roads HAVE been gritted and they are continuing to do so (I know because one passed me in the other direction and sprayed my car ) but it's coming down so quick, it's not really having any effect. Good fun though in a rear wheel drive car! Since mine is lowered and has a front lip spoiler, it's turned into a snow plough!
  9. I believe you promised us a picture! It's been 21 minutes, where is it?! haha so excited!
  10. Hello all from the excited south west! Anyone got any pictures of the blizzard? Something to salivate over while we're waiting for it to arrive
  11. Anyone notice the great big hole that's opened over the channel islands? haha
  12. I've got a University assignment in for 4:30pm so I'm staying up whether I like it or not! Should be fun watching it come in. Any idea what's going to happen when the main front joins up with the stalled occlusion that's over us right now?
  13. Netweather's local forecast also has us in the snow for at least 24 hours as well! It's definitely a case of I'll believe it when I see it, but still quite excited!
  14. If I remember the 2010 event correctly, in swindon it was supposed to be a snow to rain event as there was supposed to be a mild sector mucking things up, but it never happened. Then I remember that 3 days later there was supposed to be a mild breakdown, and that didn't happen either! Instead it was just more snow which then stuck around for several days before a very slow and gradual warming up. So even at T0, things can be considerably different from what's expected.
  15. Well it's definitely snowing lightly outside. Just took the dog out for a loo run and there's a thin layer on cars and grass now.
  16. For the benefit of everyone here, this is a screenshot of the current radar
  17. I remember when we had freezing fog in Bath in 2009 and seeing such heavy snow grain showers coming from factories in Bristol and Avonmouth. Really really surreal stuff.
  18. Well according to the radar it snowed here last night at 4:55am (so I certainly didn't see it) and only went on for half an hour. All melted now of course though! You'd never have known it did at all! Never mind, onto next week!
  19. Cheers for that Ian, as already said, always interesting and an advantage to have your input!
  20. Is there a reason that the front isn't showing up on Netweathers radar as anything other than showers? This is the current image:
  21. I can confirm this. Just been out to take the dog for a walk and there's ice all over the place and it's chuffing freezing!
