Just thought I'd bring my post from the south west thread to your attention since you mentioned swindon: Like I said though, the wind has picked up and the two light blue blobs south of swindon have magically appeared out of nowhere and spread north, so there's hope yet!

This is the current radar grab from netweather extra. Shows precip right over me, but looking outside, I've not seen anything falling at all the entire evening. Saying that, just noticed from my open window that the wind has picked up a little.

Just had a text from my manager saying there's snow up on Lansdown just outside Bath.

Well going by the rain today radar, the weaker end of the band should be over me right now, but looking outside at the lamp posts I can't see anything.

Got about 0.5cm settled on cars here but that's it Oh well, I guess the storm moved through too fast for the cold air to dig in, as I remember on previous runs the NAE had it still snowing here at midday today!

@Fergieweather just retweeted a guy saying it's now snowing in merthyr tydfil. not long now!

Got heavy wet snow here in swindon for the second time today

Just had a short heavy wet snow shower in swindon Been in chippenham all day and had thunder and lightning. No rain, but lots and lots of heavy hail showers!

Well that looks terrible. Unless you turn on the cities, there's almost no way you can work out what part of the country you're in. It's a bit too much web 2.0. Much prefer the bbc still.

God damn it, just a bit too far west for all this lot. Had a small shower earlier which was pretty intense, so I can only imagine how good it is where you guys are! Enjoy it

Did Paul really say this or is this paraphrased? I'm not saying that it isn't true, I'm just wondering whether he was spoken to at all and if so was he taken out of context like the daily mail usually do?

Got a couple of pictures of storms, I missed most of them due to being in work in Bath, but Swindon apparently got quite a pasting as when I got back, the centre of town smelt like a stink bomb had gone off and there was this black sludge all over the pavements so there must have been flash flooding. My missus also reported thunder. Anyway, the two pictures I did get were of after all the action was done. The first is from the train, looking north between Swindon and Chippenham, and the Second is looking North East from the Lawns in Old Town.

Here are some photos I took today at about 6pm between Bath and Swindon (a few at the stations and a few on the train, hence the window reflections). Whilst none of the storms came over, the cloud scapes were awesome.

Oh for gods sake, that huge shower that came from bristol literally disintigrated over my head! Gutted

It's weird, that same shower is now apparently right over me according to rain today, but nothing's happening here :-/

What The hell happened to the band of rain passing over dartmoor? It just disintigrated within 15 minutes if rain today is to be believed! Practically nothing there now! :o

Just showers now here in swindon, a little too far north for the heavier stuff but we'll just wait and see how it pans out

Well I'm off to knebworth today for sonisphere festival, so I'm hoping to christ that it holds off until I can get my tent up! haha. Very cool as Phelpsy said though. Thick blanket of cloud over us in swindon atm. Was really rather warm when a break in the cloud let some sun through for all of a minute

I second this something chronic. It's been 5 years since my last decent storm in Swindon. I'm really very happy for all you lot in the east , but at the same time, green with envy! haha. Time to move to kent I think.
