McElwee - brilliant for us weather nerds

Willetts - sparky gorgeous and wonderful in every way

Francis Wilson - the best outside the bbc

On radio I remember a guy called Bob Pritchard at the london weather centre. he was also very good

I know of John. He lived in nearby Holmes Chapel down the road from me. A very good weather forecaster and his radio presentations were perfect. A real star cold ramper. Hated the mild. He may have worked at Manchester Weather Centre at the time of the great JH?

Yes, Ian's hay day was in the 80s. A run of great winter scenario brought the best out the laddie. I remember during a cold Easterly spell, Ian plonked on his News at Six chart a warm front heading west out the North Sea, but he described to the viewers " its about as warm as a polar bears picknick "

Happy days

The trouble is, you end up focusing your attention on the presenter rather than the forecast :):(

Whilst I may not be interested in women as such, Helen brightens my mornings.

I like her most when she wears her light brown leather or suede coat.

Bob lived in Cheadle Hulme, or did when I knew hi as I have given him a lift home at the end of the shift. Not sure if he worked at MWC, it was MAP I knew him at.

Hi John,

Bob worked at the MWC in the early 70s. I am sure he lived in Holmes Chapel in those days ?

John Hammond (as his Dad was my physics teacher)

Suzanne Charlton.

Ian McCAskill for his teetering on the verge of excitement breathlessness.

My worst - Sian Lloyd... *shudders*

It was Bert Foord what taught me about things meteorological...There was a BBC TV prog about weather in the 1960s. Yours trully watched every one! :whistling:

1. Bert Foord - met him in Germany a number of years ago - very knowledgeable, but modest.

2. Iain "Hallooooo" MacAskill - a gently comical presentation style. Bet he'd be fun at the pub!

3. Michael Fish - get really fed up with him being blamed for that "hurricane". His actual words ran along these lines.... "A woman called in to say she had heard a hurricane was coming... Well don't worry, there isn't. Having said that it it will be extremely windy". IMO, he was bang on correct. It wasn't a hurricane, but it did get extremely windy!

Special mention also for John Kettley. Sian Lloyd, however, is a different story - can't stand her presentation style.

Very uncertain about our Dan Corbett. Sometimes he really makes me squirm with his turn of phrase, but it does give me a chuckle too.....

"There may well be some rain, as juicy air oozes in from the west, so better pack that brolly.... But note those numbers...... 15s, 16s, or even 17s!" etc etc etc....

The WORST presenter ever is Sian Lloyd,if ever she is on the box it is in great danger of having something thrown at it.

Agreed. She's on my list; not the good one :p !!

Other members of that list include Dale Winton and Clare Sweeney :):) !
