Looking excellent for today's severe thunderstorms, dry mid level with jet stream over our region would lean to HP supercells in ne nsw into se qld afterwards.

Monday

A low pressure trough lingering over northeast NSW will trigger further showers and thunderstorms on Monday. There is the chance of large hail, heavy rainfall and damaging winds within some of these storms. Storms may also become severe over inland and northwest QLD. Showers and storms will continue across the tropics as moisture and instability increases over the region as the monsoon trough draws closer to the Australian mainland.

Convective outlook showing huge amount of powerful storms in for NE NSW only today with very extremely high risk of damaging wind gusts and large hailstones. Here the convective outlook:

Friday

Thunderstorms are expected to fire up across most of NSW on Friday ahead of a low pressure trough. Strong winds and large hail are a possibilibity within some of these storms. Damaging wind gusts are more likely to occur in the southern part of the state while large hail is more likely in the north. Heavy rain is less likely today due to the relatively dry atmosphere. An unstable atmosphere will trigger further heavy showers and thunderstorms across much of northern Australia.

Issued Friday 07:08 EDT

We are expecting to see large wet unsettled weather. Severe weather is on alert for western parts of QLD and NW NSW for flash flooding and severe thunderstorms. This monsoonal low is located near 19`south on NT/QLD border. This low will heading ESE but another one will form in Gulf which it will be major TC and head into Coral Sea. This may be chance to see monsoonal storms all the way south of the lows. This type of weather is similar to 1974. Also extreme heat and humidity coming too.
