Pasting it down with snow here, the snow ploughs are working overtime to keep the main A62 open. radar shows some nice purple colours over this area, more to come! wicked

Just seen a bbc weather forecast fortomorrow and wed and again did'nt show much potential for the north-west i'm afraid. In n news interview also Laura Tobin said that the south-east was not used to seeing snow. I can categorically tell you that the south-east has fared much better than the north west for snow over the last decade so where the hell these 'pro' forecasters get their education I don't know.

Still snowing nicely here nr Carlisle, got about an inch on the ground atm, looks awesome outside, lying snow seems a bit sleety though so lets hope it don't melt by the morning.

got about an inch of snow with the heavy band pushing through 9-3pm is looking much better for heavier snow I think..still snow here started about 3am ish and still going, goes from light to heavy back to light, now very light..hopefully this will keep going..but there does seem to be a gap between the showers from the east to the west and they look even more fragmented than ever before...hopefully they will get their acts together by 9am and be more organised and prolonged..but strange how from about 20 miles north of hull upto the far north east of england isnt being that terribly affected.

Thats beasue the showers are breaking up as they come over the pennines thus becoming more fragmented. This is the reason why we dont do too well from easterlies and why I think the next few days will be similar to today (Sunday) so expect a build up of a couple of cm's (max) but not much more.

Yep pretty much the same up here in oldham roughly the same depths lying with drifts easily over 10 cm, alot of roads closed, ive even see 1 abandoned and 1 that had just had a minor crash and the main roads are not too clever either but thats to be expect when the wind blows fresh snow over the roads that have already been gritted. The councils have defonatly got there work cut out this week to keep even the main roads open lol.

Defonatly starting to feel more like the snowy weather of the nineties and even better if it does carry on for the next few days :(

Yep, pretty much got what you got Snowmad... 4 to 5cm's of fallen snow here, up to kerbside with some drifting - looks like the South East have got it alot worse though at the moment. Now for the unappetising prospect of travelling to Manchester for work.

Been on and off for most of the night here, got a dusting, about 1cm or less :D still cant complain, hopefully the sun in between the showers today doesn't melt it all and it will provide a nice base for the heavier stuff tonight :D

What are people's thoughts for the NW tonight then.

Probably a repeat performance of yesterday - a few snow showers giving further coverings of a couple of cm's (max) with the exception of high ground.

All this talk of heavy snow affecting the north-west today, tonight and tomorrow is complete and utter nonsense.

So then the south estern, southern, central eastern and northern eastern England have all seen hefty snowfalls and are set to recieve more today and tonight with talk of a low giving even the south west snowfall.

Once again here in the north-west we get pretty much a minimum effort.

Not suprised in the slightest!
