Another heavy shower and it's really piling up now as my footprints from earlier are nearly covered.

why is this being ramped up for this evening? according to the gfs we'll be lucky to get sleet as that mild sector pushes in from the south east and it seems to do a pretty fast job of it or are these images wrong? http://212.100.247.145/gfsimages/gfs.20090...ctypeuktopo.png

Meto latest Forecast no mention of Rain/Sleet Anywere...Snow all the Way

That was on the latest News 24 Forecast. Also dont know about you but those

Snow Maps seem very unacurate. For Example at 0900 this morning I had very dark

Pink area showing for my Area and it was blue sky and Sunny, and it was until 11.00

pretty disappointing morning if i were to be honest we had one heavy shower for 10mins but pretty much nothing apart from that

must be localised showers then because its not really stopped in Wythenshawe all morning

however, there does seem to be a thaw setting in

They always show rain/sleet when the 850's are above -5 even under certain conditions when it can snow as high as -2, so they can be innaccurate at times.

Heavy snow again in Wythenshawe! Yipee!

This stream of showers from Lincolnshire and Humberside looks very prolific!

By the way, check the latest radar. The snow associated with the low pressure moving from France is really pepping up now and moving north/northwest. People in the southeast are reporting heavy steady snow1

If you're getting the same showers as me, I can't see why you're disappointed, several heavy snow showers this morning and 9cm on the ground, infact there's another that will be heading for you, it's really heavy again here.

Thanks guys, had a gut feeling those maps seemed way off target, seemed a bit strange the maps saying one thing and the reality of them another, thanks for pointing that out to me james and cheshire snow..here is hoping for a huge dumping. I really think there is going to be something very significant about this snowfall. We havent had a dumping in so many years I cant remember think it was either the early 80's or 87 the last time it really did something major here. Since then we have had the odd flurry or very light dusting but nothing that reminds me of the 80's

back again - another heavy snow shower here - strong winds and starting to drift on a small scale

That snow in manchester with the dark pink on the radar seems to be heading this way, shame its showers though, hopefully they will band together more and we can get a good longer spell of snow

For a short time only it stopped. I am in Southmoor road.

What i really like is the huge vatriety of weather since this morning. We even had over an hour of sunshine earlier this morning and then an hour later almost a blizzard!

Another decent shower here topping up the previous overnight snow showers.currently about 8cm.

Have to say there is indeed a slight thaw seeting in between the showers but i emphasise slight and the cover is very good in the main.

wrt tonight its watching the radar closely but i reckon james etc could see another 10 com overnight so that could be getting on for 20 cm up the road or 6 inches level snow possibly a foot in the drifts

Who said that we don't do well in easterly spells?

The showers are crossing the Pennines with no trouble at all!

The band in the southeast is spreading north and west nicely.
