Hi of it is possible could you tell me the ingredients for this to happen :D:D !!thanks

We have the ingredients now. The cold upper with a moisture laden front moving up tomorrow evening will engage the cold air and will fall as snow initially wherever you are.

The problem is there is slightly less cold air becoming involved and as things stand we can expect the snow to turn to sleet and then rain especially the closer you are to the east coast and sea level. Further west and a bit of height may benefit.

Again though it is a very marginal event and MAY stay as snow.

With upper 850 Hpa temperatures of -10 now entering the east of the country, anything that falls simply has to be snow.

Once the flow becomes more unstable into the early hours, we should see some shower development.

Latest ECMWF Precip forecast looks very favourable for the east and southeast from 9.00am tomorrow, continuing all day tomorrow and through tomorrow night.

Let's hope we can get something decent.! :cray:

It's on the Icelandic meteorological site - can't remember the link.

Temps falling away now. Snow reported at Dublin Airport....and I will gladly bet that it won't be just Heathrow and Gatwick with problems in the morning. The showers are going to get going in the early hours.

On orange warning in Leinster

6pm tomorrow night even better!!

http://91.121.93.17/pics/Rtavn244.png

This is actually concerning me, as the UK met reckon we will get pretty much nothing in NI on monday. Can they be wrong two years in a row?

Now this it what's hard to predict.

Tuesday night shows the low pushing north.

http://91.121.93.17/pics/Rtavn361.png

The precipitation looks great for a whiteout.

http://91.121.93.17/pics/Rtavn364.png

However the upper air has some less cold air wrapped up in it as shown below.

http://91.121.93.17/pics/Rtavn362.png

This makes things much more marginal.

And by Tuesday 6pm we're back under the colder air again.

Higher ground will definetly get pasted.

Unfortunately M.S i dont think we'll get too much at all. The milder air mixes in quite quickly taking the 850's above -5C. I'd be surprised if we see much snow. Inland and high ground probably do slightly better but not muck use to us were we live.

Agreed Johnny, but you never know. It will start as snow at least for maybe an hour or so.

Main event for Norn Iron later in the week anyway.

Cheers SA. I'm even more convinced we'll see some decent snow showers here tomorrow afternoon, despite the Met saying no.

Theres no doubt the charts are throwing up some crackin synoptics recently and i hope they deliver. Later in the week and later in the month are showing very positive signs with the models possibly now coming to terms with the Stratospheric Warming. I wonder will the cooler SST's around our coasts have a negative bearing on convective shower activity.

Good point Johnny, I hope not.

Latest GFS run is stunning is all I can say for all of next week, absolutely stunning, and deep FI shows Armageddon cold.

Excellent weather and excellent trends.

Yes stunning run indeed - i just hope those continue as the GFS has been suspect of late with the ECM an UKMO without doubt progging this spell the best. Just as i posted my last i looked at the radar and see a line of shower activity heading NW out of the Irish Sea towards county down and the Belfast Region. Maybe that answers my question re the cooler SST's !

Really fine powder snow continues. Calm before the heavier stuff later.

Eagle/CS

That would appear to be from the same line of shower activity heading in my direction towards County Down and Belfast Lough. Heres hoping.

Yeah but it is light stuff. No hope of lying. The action begins after midnight.
