Quite heavy here now with a good covering, not seen anything like this for many years near the coast this early in the evening anyway. Reminds me of living in stoke-on-trent.

Local BBC Radio Bristol going for 10-15 cms. Apparently Bristol is in the firing line for the heavy stuff between now and 3am :D:D :o

You sure? BBC TV forcast said no accumulations tonight.

ICE is the main problem.

Has been very heavy for about an hour. Added about 3-4cm. Lighter now but more to come.

It seems to be weakening as it passes Yeovil but there is a line moving SW which is to my NW that is coming in your direction.

Oh, and Australia won the 1975 Rugby League World Cup!

Cool thanks for the heads up.....Sorry you were wrong about the world cup...it was Indonesia in the 1975 Uber Cup which was the 8th edition of the Uber Cup, the women's badminton team competition. The tournament took place in the 1974-75 badminton season, 14 countries competed. Indonesia won its first title in the Uber Cup, after beating the defending champion Japan in the Final Round in Jakarta.. :o

Snow flurry started again huge flakes but powdery snow at -1.5C

Only 17 miles away [westwards] in Exeter it remains dry!

Most of the snow went to Blackdown hills northwards towards Exmoor and Quantocks. Friend in Taunton said snow started about 1" so far.

This is odd, Matt is right because I watched the BBC forecast aswell and there wasn't much in the way of snow shown on there graphics. But did anyone see the ITV forecast? They said there could be up to 10cm of snow in parts of the South and SW?? I thought that was slightly too exaggerated but I dont know where there getting that from.

As the low spins it picks up extra moisture from the channel, and bristol channel, they could be taking that into account and would fit with what RJS said in the other thread - I would be biased though as he specifically mentioned Dartmoor getting a pasting! hehe

For some reason knowbody trusts ITV!!!

Depends what they mean by SW, is that plymouth or penzance? They are crap, Im not sure what forcast models they use!

I would describe Bristol as SW of the UK, but really it isn't, if you know what i mean!!!

ICE is the main problem.

Richard Angwin's forecast seems to be at odds with both national BBC and ITV forcasts. Both showed large blobs of snow over the entire Bristol area. Considering we have 3" of snow and still snowing at a fair pace I cannot see where Mr Angwin is coming from saying hardky any snow.

I think Angwin has put his reputation on the line this evening and he could well have egg on his face tommorrow
