I think they're working on version two at the moment.

i think the little bit of elevation helps here. it seems like it has its own snow microclimate at the moment. Drive to and from derby each day and as soon as you climb the dronfield bypass the temp drops and the snow appears.

Reports of it snowing in Leics now, not a bad sign at all, with 850's beginning to fall slowly & if the precipitation gets heavier those in the south and west of the region should see some good snowfall .

Nothing but rain here now, short lived snow event. strangely it doesnt seem to be washing away much of the snow, but there is a definate thaw taking place. Are we going to get some snow later on or was that it?

After several hours of moderate-heavy rain which has failed to thaw the lying snow, things are turning quite wintry out there. Definate transition from rain to sleet in the last 30 minutes or so... things could begin to get interesting here very shortly!

I dont think it will mate, to be honest its just raining now, if further south are seeing snow and most up here seeing rain, it must mean were on the wrong side of marginal ?

The only thing which is helping further south is due to the evaporative cooling effect of the heavy precipitation, the other factors are indeed even more marginal.

Hopefully the temperatures will begin to peak shortly, so let's hope we see some heavier precipitation to give us some evaporative cooling effect to counteract the increasing temp and dp's :lol:

But surely by which time most of the precip will have left us, it seemed to be very light and patchy looking at the forecast earlier. plus the low is now begining to pivot around its centre, so this is surely going to start heading back south?

it was foggy in the distance on my way into work today in Loughborough, quite a grey day and the sky looked full of it when I left, but drove home in the rain. hubby has just closed the curtains now in dissappointment that there is just rain outside the window!!!!! We want snow!!!!!!!!!
