The winds swung round in the last hour from N to NNE then to S now its ESE I still sit here and hope we get some white stuff, the rains washed away what we had last night and the fog surely made things eriee all day at work nr jnc 26.

looking at this stays as rain over south yorks most of the night. much further south getting the snow

A wintry mix best describes it here, doesn't seem to be melting any snow though. And if it is its doing it very slowly. I think there is a good chance as it clears we will see some back edge snow. Look North also mentioned it. Best thing to do is watch the radar and watch the Dew point. I don't think its worth staying up into the early hours of the morning though. Shall see what the damage is if any in the morning I for one though won't be disappointed, two heavy snow events in one week with some smaller ones in between! Just under 10cm on the grass for just over a week! Not very often you can say that in these resent times

We have about 1 cm of fresh snow here, wind has become quite gusty and there's a pretty strong radar echo approaching from the southeast so I imagine the high ground around Sheffield will have a decent covering by the morning.

Your lucky, to be honest it hasnt really been that bad all last week here, we never went over 3 inches here, which is a shame.

Its not even close to marginal here, currently 3.3C with a dewpoint of 2.2C. We reached 3.9C earlier with a dewpoint of 2.8C - the highest of the day!

So just a miserable wet and cold night.

I don't get why NW Radar says sleet/rain but its absolutley hammering down with snow here and has been for fifteen minutes - covering already evident !

Very fine snow here too but accumulation is now about 4 cm. A good northerly breeze is piling it up so if it carries on for another four hours or so my first job in the morning will be shovelling.....again !
