Yeah that cloud does seem to be thicking up and is very orange indeed. That used to be a sign it would snow. Then again maybe im just hopecasting because i certainly wouldnt mind some more of the white stuff thats for sure.

Edit:

Started snowing lightly here now.

It's been snowing here very lightly for a couple of hours, not really doing anything other than dusting, but still plenty on the ground from earlier this week. I would be nice to top it up for the weekend.

not sure if am the only one from isle of man on here, or if u have had reports? mountain snaefell road closed on monday reopened yesterday, and is now closed again due to a nice covering of snow. log on to the manxradio.com site and link to webcams, look at the laxey road cam is IR and shows good snow

hope to be able to report more tomorrow!! watched the trough come down from scotland and join with the lil low north of wales over the irish sea, but is now moving away again.

going to go clearish and cold, so we have a freeze. laying snow on hills from monday through to today but little or none at lower levels. no pics as have been at work all week, no way near as bad as you lot have had it, booohooo the joys of living in the middle of the sea!

hoping now that the wind has changed to northerly/northwesterly we might get some from a shortwave/trough/cheshire streamer PLEASE!!!

no school/work closures (only primary school Ballasalla closed one day this week - no heating - not weather related), no major travel distruption other than the mountain road closed and some flights delayed/cancelled due to your snow

have fun, stay safe, travel only if you need to. God bless you all.

Has that PPN Over west wales Stalled Just not moved much recently.

How I would love a Cheshire Streamer not going to happen Tonight

Or soon I Would imagine. But that would put my chances of heavy

Snow at about 99.9% :D I Can dream i suppose LoL

Reports from down South that all that Heavy PPN Down there is

Heading Due North not NNE As expected not that it will effect

Us but just another indication on how things change quite

Quickly. Some members seem to think it my reach as for north

As Stoke.

So far it seems to be in line with what the GFS has predicted, right down to the northerly track before turning NE'erly, so I would say it would probably reach further north than the BBC predicts.

OK I'm in dreamland now, but...

I imagine if that band of ppn travelled further north than expected and then sat all over the north west and stalled giving a few hours of consistent snowfall and a few inches on the ground.

Imagine.....

Aye, as I said earlier Sunday is worth keeping an eye on.

I made a forecast eralier regarding Sunday - what are other peoples thoughts on te snow potential?

Given the fact it is set to stay colder than I expected I think the chances of ppn falling as snow on lower levels - particuarly in the west of the region - may have increased slightly.[ Obviously we still need the front to stay on track towards our region as it could easily budge north or south of us.

Totally agree mate, it is important to remain cautious but the potential is definetely there. We need the following factors to stay in our favour for it to pull off:

(1) Ground/air temps stay low.

(2) The track of the ppn heads for our region (its track could easily verge north or south of us.)

(3) Need the cold air to win out preventing it from being preceeded by rain.

(4) The system picks up plenty of moisture off the north sea - otherwise the intensity of the ppn will be minimal.

So theres alot of factors involved here, as usual will be more of a case of nowcasting. However with models continuing a tend of further cold weather into next week things look like they may be swinging in our favour.
