Looks like we have a isolated mid level storm setting up over South London, very dark that way and a huge flock of seagulls has appeared out of nowehere going mad.

Yup, seems you may be right. The wind has picked-up a little bit, but getting darker and horrendously muggy right now. Migraine weather indeed.

Just popping in for a sec. Had a look at the met office radar and spotted a spiral over the midlands. Any risk of tornados popping up in this lot, would have thought conditions are ripe?

The latest radar does show some convection building to the South and South West of London right now, so it looks good for when the 'clump' to the South of Portsmouth comes in off the Channel.

Hi Mick,

Indeed, looks like a wet walk home for you from Woolwich station. My partners off to Bromley for some late night shopping, told her to leave it

until tomorrow but she's determined to get it done tonight. I've told her to stay inside "The Glades" shopping precinct for as long as possible.

Regards,

Tom.

No, and a minus sign is not used when referring to CIN since we already know that it negative CAPE and represents sinking air in the lower part of the atmosphere. Yes, the higher the CIN value, the stronger the CAP. If you would like to know more about storm structure or storm development then this site is great!

theweatherprediction

I think I follow - figures are not normlly given a - sign as it's convention not to, but it mut have one.

Thanks for the link!

Just started raining here, not heavy, but big drops.

EDIT: It is very heavy!!

RE-EDIT: Short lived shower, which has increased humidity, with cells building to my south. Looks like the fun is starting!

Still rather dark around the London area, lots of dark mid level cloud bases, especially to my South.

EDIT: Radar shows rapid development over West and South London, keep your eyes on the skies. :)

No prob. Is a very good site and once you've taken the time to read up on most it has to offer, then it'll come in handy when there's a day of storm potential. :)

Cant say it is raining here by Tower Bridge - still dark though! Even if a storm does develop, I'll be soon on my way E while any storms will be trundling North :)

Something rapidly developing to my West and North West at the Moment. Sky has gone black in a matter of Minutes. Am on the Southbank looking towards West and NW London

Seems that the rain moving in from the S is destabilising everything ahead of it. Can confirm a breeze has picked up all of a sudden, as yet though, no rain.

Hi Sno'problem,

Not surprised you're getting some rain now from that heavy bank of cloud just W/NW of here. Skies brightening a little to south of here as it moves away.

Has been really oppressive in the London area today, very unpleasant.

Btw Harry, love your description of that area of heavy cloud cover, bruised it was indeed, exactly what I saw to the west of me.

Regards,

Tom.

With the sudden breeze the temps have dropped by about 5 degree's. So now it's quite bearable.

Getting quite dark now, so rain is coming..................but how much?
