The clump of rain moving out of N France, has pretty bright echoes on the SE side, which look like separate cells.

If these are cells and do keep intensity, then these could have the SE's name on later.

I think we could get something later Harry. The band pushing out of France does seem to be heading more NE than expected so we may catch something.

Just hope they explode when they hit our shores and come our way

Just getting some rumbles of thunder here in west Cambs. Looking at the radar, the storm looks as though it will only just skim where I am

Horrible here, the cold front can't move in fast enough!

Looking good for a storm a week 7 weeks in a row, some rather substantial mid level convection brewing.

couldn't agree more. it's vile today in london town. can someone push that front

Very bright flash of lightning and almighty crack of thunder like a starting pistol, that didn't miss by much

Yep, I remember it well, that one was particularly feisty wasn't it? Since then though it's died down a bit and I haven't heard any thunder in a while, hence I'm back on the PC.

Rain pretty constant. Interesting to see that Accuweather have picked up on it. Says at the bottom "Now: Thunderstorm, 22C." Earlier it was reporting Sunny conditions when it was completely overcast, so good to see it's got its act together.

OK, ask a silly question...get a silly answer!

;)

tbh im not sure. I would assume its either a trough or a front embedded.

If its a front then as the air masses meet it should create convection and rain.

Wasn't there supposed to be a mid-level trough interacting with the moist, hot plume anyway?

Quite a drastic Temperature difference with this Set-Up

Some parts of the West Country around Bristol are at 14.5c whereas the Highest now in the SE Are 29c

This will create Storms as the other poster says with the 2 different airmasses.

So the line of storms I posted earlier is caused by the cold front?

Looks that way.

the metoffice fax chart shows it further east, However it may actually be correct with the storms behind it ( warm air to the east and cold to west ) as it pushes east it will throw the warm air higher igniting storms.

Woth such a big temp difference it could be great for some central places!

just such a shame its not further west ;)

Yes, I suppose the storms would be in the cold sector. Thanks (I'm learning all the time). ;)

Yes 100% Correct

Just look at the temps on XcWeather and you will see the Hot air to the East and the Cold to the West, In fact you can clearly see the CF just by looking at the temps across the Uk at the moment
