Had some heavy rain come through here about half an hour ago and Mr Loo reckoned he heard a rumble of Thunder (might have been my stomach)

We have had a light shower here in the last hour, considering it was supposed to be dry today it came as a bit of a surprise.

Is it a little further West than expected?.

It seems to me Steve...

Even BBC this morning mentioned the Midlands could see a deluge of rain tonight..

Still areas like Hampshire to Linc are still in the threat Zone

edit HEAVY down pour here

Is this pulse running up across N/NW France now the event? I would expect it to burst with activity as it makes landfall along the S Coast...I just cant see us in the SE getting any action from it at this stage.

I am curious though as Estofex has most of France under a Level 1, and I know there was talk of a potential thundery L developing over France. I was just considering the possibilities of thunderstorms developing ahead of the front and maybe threatening the SE later on??

No warning for me any more nea.gif , but the GFS ppn charts make me believe there should be a warning for more areas of Yorkshire cc_confused.gif

Well at least we come into the game. I thought this area was well out of it.

Fingers crossed for later.

Yes BBC mentioning there will be flash flooding in places due to the intense downfalls...

Looks nasty for the S/E later with an intense radar reading in N.France

sounds good to me Pat

Some rather interesting wind flow activity forecast for Northern France this evening (see attached).

This appears to develop a Low which scrapes past Kent and then up towards EA!

Thoughts?

EDIT - Note also the line of convergence which runs from the Midlands, around through EA then down towards the SE...

In West London, just started to get some clouds blocking the sun. had a milky sky earlier and feels very oppressive. Traveling back to Norfolk later this afternoon, for once I hope I avoid the storms.

Most of the stuff at the moment seems to be to the west of here, hope I can beat what's coming out of France, the 850 wind direction seems to be pushing them towards East Anglia

My guess (emphasis on the guess) blue = rain, yellow rain + possible TS

Looks to me like that area of PPN, perhaps weakly electrified and sporadic at this moment, I still maintain that the East and SE will see some very wet and sparkys fly across the sky late afternoon and maybe into well after dark. Still borderline though as to who gets what, and when.

At 12:01pm... This was the sky over Solihull... 22º Sun halo, indicative of a front approaching.

Phil.

Cheers Coast, gives me some idea of which direction to roughly head in.

I thing Portsmouth might be a good bet, anyone got any better ideas?

Just too far west I'm hoping the forecast will be wrong and it moves further west than predicted.
