Not around me you don't. Julie Reinger on Look East isd showing which wind direction for Monday? Is it a NE'rly? Nope! SW as usual! <_<

Don't tell me I'm the only one around here who just can't see how such a cold, snowy event can happen in this country in mid-December?:crazy:

Plenty of potential in the charts; but also plenty of room for it to go TITUS VERTICUS for many.

Indeed.

I'm all for ramping, but I think some people's expectations are a little too high!

If the charts still show what they are showing come Saturday evening, then I will be excited, at the moment, I am 'interested'. The movement of this high is very important, and even though there is agreement among all major models, it's not "set in stone" yet.

Sorry to be pecamistic, but I've been hurt too many times before.

However, even if this doesn't come to fruition, it still bodes well for the next few weeks ahead, and into the new year.

Personally I see the chances like this:

All charts backtrack at the last minute to give a brief settled interlude before a return to milder weather 5%

A slack easterly bringing temperatures above freezing for less than a week, very little snow 40%

A slack Easterly followed by a more intense easterly after next weekend 25%

A very cold 7-10 days, maybe an ice day or two. 20%

A Bitter 7-10 days, many ice days (maxes below -3C on more than a couple of days), snow settling for more than 5 days 10%

ECM out to T+120:

Not a great trend here - looks like the 'real' cold might not make it - if it does, it will be delayed.

oh no it looks like monday wont be cold after all as usual theres always downgrades........

You're right. What concerns me there Nick is that if that trend continues there won't be as much convection out of it. High pressure generally = less precipitation. We need to see if the intensity is maintained with proper low pressures forming off the north sea.

Thats what i was thinking too , i wouldn't mind if things stayed roughly the same but so far all the models gfs, ecm, ukmo has slowly but surelly started the downgrade today. Yes most of us are more interested in snow as it's a much more rare a thing compared to a week of cold weather. Earlier this year was really cold , bitter with weeks of just above freezing or below are we really interested in that again?. I just hope it doesn't downgrade anymore because every time it does this , the closer it gets the further down it goes

MODS < PLEASE REOPEN THE WHINING THREAD! , thanks :o

ecm poor

ukmo ok!

GFS ok at first then it's poor for the south and still great for the north

Downgrades begin , :o :(. If only models where reliable day to day , they are NOT consistant

Now that's taking it to extremes Pete! :w00t:

:(

But, I am liking the 'suggestion' of blast from the NE, Solar...A straight easterly is no use for me??

OMG! That's the closest thing to a 'whine' I can manage! :unknw:

so its not looking to great for the south just yet jeez folks relax we got a whole winter to go yet. we aint even mid way through December yet and already

some are reaching for the prozac. for the past 5 days now i have been watching the model discussion thread looking for some hope of snow up north all I seemed to be watching was 3 or 4 guys discussion models that would effect the south east of England only. jeez how great must that have been for the rest

of the forum users who don't live in that small corner of the UK. hanging on every word hoping of a mention of potential of snow for the rest of the UK and when some one posted a question pertaining to weather out with the south east it was deleted nice united forum huh

I hope and pray everyone here in the UK gets to see some snow before Xmas

forum united. :cold:
