Around 2cm of snow lying over a thick layer of ice - Looks like the temperature is starting to go down after reaching 1.1c. Currently 1.0c and cloudy.

At Watford the temperature is currently about +0.5C - we have about 6/8ths cloud which gives the possibility of a min of say about -1C subject to the cloud cover. As it is ground level temperatures appear down to zero from the state of the ice.

Earlier in the evening we had rain, sleet, wet snow, sleet turning back to rain. It has been stopped for a little while now.

We still have mostly snow cover but it is disappearing - about 2cms at the momment. :)

Quite a contrast to the weather down here on the Costa Del Solent, heavy rain (even a rumble of thunder earlier) & 5C (41F). Temp stayed around 4C to 5C all night here too.

Well I'm glad SteveB says there's been a little bit of snow overnight so that my eyes are not deceiving me. Another very light dusting on the roofs and grass - the roads just look very icy and treacherous once again. Light overcast this morning with a little milky sun. The temp. fell to -1.5C last night so not so cold.

6cm of snowcover now after last nights snow and showers fog for most of the night but not the freezing type trees are dripping wet but frozen drops, thick fog now at 0.9c skies actually cleared this morning and temps dropped to -0.8c

Dew points must be on the higher side with this fog/low cloud as the snow is damp, but when it

cleared the snow was dry.

The deepest christmas eve snowcover on a par with 1993. :)

Thick fog all night and all morning so far. The temp' overnight hovered just below 0c for most of the time but crept up to a max' of 0.3c shortly after midnight before dropping back again.

Currently the temp' is 0.4c, the overnight min' was -1.0c.

Mean snow depth is 10.5cm, the snow is now damp and solid and weighing down the trees and bushes.

Vis' is 50 mts.

Mean wind speed, 8 mph S.

Still waiting for the snow from the gauges to thaw but would estimate about 3mm from last night's snowfall.

1.3c here with a thick mist lasting all night - turned the snow to slush and ice on the paths, elsewhere about an inch of snow and ice remains.
