Heavy sleet here at the moment, can see the splats of wet snow on the windscreen mixed in with the rain :)

God knows where the station that forecast fox uses for my post code is located as it has been showing snow in my area for the last 2 hours and it just isn't..

The temperature is wrong as well, looks more like Manchester than my town.

Looking good for tonight, turning increasingly to snow here now, and temp is dropping now at 3.7c yahoo.gif

Good stuff

Your DP must be below 0c for Snow at that temp

Good luck though lets hope the rest of the region gets Snow

The 12z gfs has the band reaching us, giving prolonged precipitation. The UKMO shows much less of precipitation.

There could be some nice surprises by morning for elevated areas of the region.

Still fairly warm in Preston...what is the best way (if possible at all) to track the cold air on its way in ala rainfall radar...

(please noone say with a thermometer I mean the movement of the cold air on its way)

I very much trust the opinions of more knowledgable members here so can only think snow is v unlikly here as thats the consensus.....however a) thats alot of precip....and it is moving north :o it looks likely to be over us at noght when temps are going to be low enough (arent thay) c) the met office say we will see snow.

Can someone explain why is so unlikely?

Thanks

Very light precipitation falling here now, cannot see it going past a lamp post yet but I could feel it being blown in my face when I went to the shop just now.

Couldn't tell if it was snow or rain as it was so fine, though it felt more like hail in this ice cold wind.

At work at present, but this band is fizzling out all the time, and seems to be slamming into a immovable barrier south of Manchester. Expecting little if any snowfall from this.

The Meto radar shows the southern flank loosing intensity, but the northern flank is gaining intensity, Meto radar.

Precipitation has been a little heavier recently, although difficult to tell whether it is rain, sleet or snow.

I will sit on the fence and say probably sleet.dry.gif

On a more positive note temperature is steadily falling and has been for a few hours.

Peaked at 3.3c mid-afternoon and is currently 2.2c, dewpoint 1.0c

Interesting too to see the flash weather warning issued earlier today by Met Office for heavy snow for north west.

Still worth keeping an eye on that lampost - and radar of course.smile.gif

Sleet here at present, not sticking at all though, Temp is 0.9oC. Maybe turn more wintry overnight, but I know how marginal it is & that areas further South appear to have had rain rather than the 30cm of snow that was being talked about

Very light sleet here, wind getting up though

feels bitter out

I think the N24 forecasts are on a loop sometimes

The latest one with the extreme warning must be bang upto date so let's see where we are 20.00hrs
