A few snowflakes drifting past the lamppost, but the moon is finally coming out. We could do with a hard frost tonight in order to prevent any thawing tomorrow.

Hopefully the band over the north east will hit here, but I'm doubtful.

Finally the winds are starting to shift from an easterly flow straight off the relatively warm North sea to a Nor'westerly so temps should start to fall here on the coast as it is 3.1°C presently. There's still a deep snowcover but a thaw is still ongoing although at a very slow pace, hope the wind shift enables temps to fall into the minus category and stop this thaw in its tracks..

Moderate snow here now, but it is slightly sleety so it may well damage the snow cover

EDIT: Light sleet snow, but hopefully this will be the last shower :drinks:

EDIT 2: Stopped

We had a bit of snow half an hour ago.

However we seem to be too far inland and the majority of showers are hugging the coast.

Earlier showers fell as sleet or rain but with the wind shift the showers are now of snow, falling quite steadily at the moment, but i can still hear the sound of dripping water as the snow melts from my roof as its dripping through my gutter..need to fix that..!!

It seems the wind has changed direction and we are about to loose the sea warming effect.......My link

Temperatures should drop away nicely now, especially when the cloud cover clears. Its currently 0.8c here.....

snowing moderatly here :p been so for thelast 30 mins or so

Is it dry snow or the wet type of snow SM06? And is it starting too accumulate? Its nice to hear these reports of snow coming from places near the coast although it is still dry but cloudy here.

Thaw(albeit slowly) is still occuring here, i would just like too see the temps below freezing and hope that tomorrows trough that is predicted to come in from the east delivers as snow here.

edit: snow here albeit just lightly but the flakes are not small.

Wel was proper heavy snow last night, but as the day has wore on its become more sleety. Now as this band of showers came in initiallyit fell as sleet or wet snow accelerating the thaw but now huge flakes coming down! After next week is finished i can see me needing to dig my way out my front door  perfect sledging conditions today and i dont think ive ever made a better snowball! lol

the weather is crazy down here today, had a good hour of snow earlier this afternoon, we've had an hour of rain this evening washing most of it away, now its snowing again which has covered the pavements and roads again, wish it would make its mind up.
