no doubt it will fizzle out before it gets to us.

I'd be over the moon with that biggrin.gif

Hopefully it will be intact and i would be happy with 4cm not over the moon but much happier than i am now

Oops- the ruler was snapped at one end (just checked) so although the "17" was level with the surface of the snow, it was overstating the depth. The actual depth using the non-snapped end is actually 12cm. Still pretty impressive though!

Haha!

Next admission...

"Oops, I just discovered that I measured above a 6cm hole that the dog dug the other day, so its only 6cm deep actually, well 5cm because I accidentally stuck the ruler in diagonally." :)

The strange thing is some people from nearby are reporting around 6cm, whilst others are reporting 12cm. I've got 11cm so people definitely aren't just exaggerating. Maybe there are large local variations.

Its looking promising, but it will be wet snow, current temp is 1*c, and its starting to thaw. Was colder last time it snowed really heavy a few weeks back, why don't we have sub-zero temps?

Looking good for 20-30 min of snow.

I live at the top of a hill on my road which might be the reason?

Plus we still had some snow left which probably would have aided it.

I'm on a bit of a hill, but I'm only about 80m asl.

Snowing here again. The wind has picked up and pushed the temp up to 0.5c.

Don't know if everyone has seen this from the Met Office...

Sleet and snow showers through Friday afternoon and evening, should ease for a time overnight, but will become widespread again later on Saturday morning and into the afternoon. Further fresh falls of 2 to 5 cm are expected, with locally up to 10cm. The wintry showers are also expected to fall on frozen roads and paths during Friday evening and overnight causing widespread ice in places.

The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.

Issued at: 1022 Fri 1 Jan

Thought it was going to be dry until evening tomorrow so that's a bonus.

Imagine another 10cm on top of what we've got, amazing, plus we have next weeks potential.
