This shower is getting progressively more intense, you can see the depth on the bin increasing before your eyes!

we already cut off up here and this next one looks a belter lol.

I have to say this is very impressive snow. The sky is very dark and its getting very heavy. The band is stretched out along the coast and it looks over 30 miles long with red intensity. I think at least 4 inches will fall out of this :whistling:

already got 6" now lol.

It is a little brighter now, but it is still snowing hard. Judging on how much snow has covered up my footprints I'd say an inch must've fallen from this shower.

Still heavy here. Just spoke to my Dad in Morpeth (13 miles north) and its still heavy there (they have 5 inches), so I expect this to keep going for some time. Already over an inch here and its getting very heavy now. Is this a Polar low?

There is definitely circulation out in the North Sea!!!! :nonono:

Looks like that low "if it is a low" is heading directly for Teesside, no doubt it will change course!!!

looking at the radar your area has been hardest hit.

No weather warning regarding heavy snow :nonono:

Mark

Sleet and snow showers will continue across parts of the northeast this morning giving accumulations of 2 to 5cm and locally up to 10cm over higher ground.

The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.

Issued at: 0617 Fri 1 Jan

The warning was to late,we already had 10cm+ when it was issued.

They have put out a further warning for between 3 and 8cm of snow for this morning which includes STOCKTON!:)

Visibility down to roughly 300M now, I can't see the buildings down my road. This matches the showers of 1991 no problem.

The road round the corner is impassable now, it is on a hill and you can see the cars skidding down from my house! Back to the snow, its probably the most intense its been yet, I wonder if we'll break the 6 inch barrier today? :nonono:

Nope, just a heavy and prolonged shower, could actually be a trough as it looks like a band of heavy snow too me.

Snow is easing slightly here now, although visability over the river is far from clear so it should not stop at least for the next 5-10mins.

The radar is showing the band intensifying. This is incredible it looks to be over 40 miles long now.

The snow is showing no discrimination between high ground and low ground, judging by the reports coming in, but certainly North Durham, Tyneside and Northumberland, are getting much better snowfall than South Durham and Teesside - the snow is constantly dissipating as it reaches us. I've had odd flakes falling for a while now.

Snow stopped at last, 1-2 inches must have fallen from that shower, 11cm on the wall, 8cm on the patio

The patio might be sheltered from some of the snow mind by the house.
