Very heavy, prolonged snow showers in Cleadon until 11am on the 1st January, which gave an aggregate depth of 12cm- similar to what my parents reported on 28 February 2004 while I was away in Lancaster, and the deepest since February 1991.

Showers turned sleety during the afternoon but turned back to snow during the evening.

Today (2nd January) heavy snow fell initially giving a topup, but then turned sleety as the wind picked up off the North Sea, turning things a little slushy outside.

Just posted a clip of the heavy snow falling this morning on the Yorks discussion thread:

http://forum.netweat...6entry1689716

And here's an interesting one. The telgraph pole at the back of our house has snow stuck on two sides - E facing from snow a day or two ago, and W facing from this morning.

that is an unusual photo

Snow here this afternoon, after snow yesterday. Might as well continue in the new year as the old one ended!

I had a covering of about 3cm on New Years eve , most of it is still here , it looks like i might get a few more showers tonight.

I was walking in the mountains on Wednesday in total blizzard conditions , never seen winds like it , there was snow drifts of up to abouy 9 foot above 600m , and they have got more snow since. I might take a trip up with the camera tommorrow , will post pics if I do.

Some more snow here today leaving a further 2 inches to the existing cover.

The wind was strong for a while leading to some minor drifting.

Occasional snow showers in Cleadon until lunchtime, these gave about 3cm which restored the 10cm cover we had yesterday morning.

Yet another snowfall overnight. Gained almost an inch of snow. Must have 2-3 inches in the garden, although this has been disturbed by the kids many times over the past few weeks. Undisturbed snow/ice lying to about 4-5 inches now. Pretty rubbish for over two weeks of a cold spell :)
