Rain in Reading turned to sleet as I was leaving home at 8.00, and it's been snowing here in Basingstoke since about 8.45, heavily at times. Currently about 2cm on the ground here, although the roads are mostly clear.

There's been a heavy snow shower over the South Shields/Cleadon/Sunderland area, which left a little dusting according to Neil Bradshaw's webcam.

Wet sleety snow now falling in Norwich- a precursor of a snowy night to come perhaps?

Horizontal heavy blizzard-like snow now/still falling in South Shields. Has been snowing heavy for about 45minutes and just over an inch has accumulated and more to come..!!! looks likely to be some serious disruption tomorrow.

Around 2-3 inches here and have heard reports that near the coast in places like Sunderland and South Shields there is around 10 inches.

The snow is not really melting and will be here tomorrow so we will have had snowcover on the ground for around 2/3rds of this month.

A remarkable winter so far.

10cm by the coast, not 10 inches.

7cm here today from overnight snow, slight thaw in the sun but nothing significant. The snow is powdery.

I have seen reports of 14-16cm locally by the coast, so more than 10cm, but at the same time well short of 10 inches. My parents reported 9 inch drifts this morning though, which is believable as the wind certainly drifted the snow quite appreciably.
