Moderate snow here with some heavier bursts. Plenty heading this way - so long as Notts doesn't slide down the gap in precip like usual!

First band just hit me in West Cambridgeshire - started off as light snow, then chucked it down with rain, then turned to sleet. :cc_confused:

Quite amazingly heavy snow here, it's like being inside a giant pillow fight.

Those of you getting snow, did you see a much temp rise before the snow arrived? If you did how high did it go and what did it drop back to?

I'm so pleased for you all, what a brilliant start to the new year.

Just rain now and a friend in Crewe says bucketing down with rain there and 5C - incredibly warm temps for the set-up that we have.

Unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable. We can get the precipitation, but not the temps. We can get the temps, but not the precipitation.

What do we have to do to get some snow that isn't half melted and is reasonably heavy?!

Chucking it down with snow here - taking time to properly settle as I think temps are a little too high. Still it's falling as proper flakes and now settling properly.

Don't envy my dad driving to Manchester and back today though...

Like the other day, writing was on the wall when temps were so high early in the morning. However, back to sleet now.

Still, marginality shouldn't be a problem next week...should it?

Yes, I noticed that - though it's certainly putting off my trip to Sainsbury's in the car, all I want is some chicken, a red pepper and mange tout so probably isn't worth driving through this just for that!

Though of course, this is very much the starter before the main course! Even Faraday Road is looking white, even with the cars going over! :D

Snake pass is apparently closed, not sure about the woodhead! Really heavy snow up that area. Getting over to me to but it seems were right on marginal. Still its accumulating i suppose!

Just about to wave a cheery sendoff to the 4hrs of snowfall we've had here in North Manchester. It's left about 3 to 4 inches, it's now heading in your direction Midlanders, so enjoy it if the temps are low enough!
