well things still interesting- a nice snow shower moving wsw into the mouth of the estuary-

Interestingly the actual direction of the showers is now perfect for a streamer- sadly there is minimal convection- saying that- enough lift to get a few showers going-

I think for most of us a nice dusting would be a nice appetiser for the rest of the week....

S

Been light snow here for an hour or so,thin covering,0.6c...dp..-2.7...rh...86%,little snippet of useless info,i counted 9 seconds for a flake to fall from top of lamp post to floor,:p,super light fakes :p

can somebodt give me a headsup as to what to expect and when here in Ware- EastHerts/WestEssex borders ?? ....thanks

I think we are far enough East to expect quite a lot of Snow from Wednesday onwards, we have been lucky/unlucky so far depending on if you wanted Snow or not so far.

It's all a bit confusing at the moment in the Met. world but I would say we could expect up to 10 cm here at least by the weekend and then possible more at the weekend.

Hi Folks

Just driven up from Cognac in France to SE London, snow warnings all the way but I did not see a single flake until we got off the shuttle in Folkstone where snow was gently falling, then it got heavier around the Maidstone area before stopping again near Detling.

Take care this week folks, I've got loads of driving to do so got full winter supplies in the car, tea/coffee/chocolate/wellies/shovel/blankets I have even put the snow chains in the boot just in case, would love to be able to use them in the UK, never needed them up to now.

Cheers

FC

Shower still trundling down the thames, almost moving due west, could get a surpise light snowfall if the shower can keep going for another 30-60 mins...

Nice big shower heading towards east Kent as well, that could well give a cm or two in its own right...

Steve, Ian Fergusson seems upbeat to the events this week. Take a look at these two links. They are very interesting:

I read those - its one or 2 things ( if hes referring to the end of the week)

*- low pressure from spain moves further North west & those bitter Easterlies carry the PPN into the SW or

*- more likely there is shortwave devlopment ( shallow) to the SW which keeps the winds east or SE with an onshore flow from the channel-

cmon cmon moving west

Moderate Snow in Gravesend now. Showers are still intensifying and heading East to West. South Essex and North/East Kent appear to be the firing line

Just seen latest BBC Forecast and they say snow Wed-Fri for SE and then on the weekend an active Low from Central Europe could deliver even more! :(

West you mean :(

They are coming from the north east , pushing south west hitting the south east and moving west.

Everything covered here now. Temp still -0.3c. Current shower appears to be merging with a larger cell currently over Canvey Island. Interesting development.

It does look like a Thames streamer is trying to evolve....PLEASE!!!!

EDIT: The next few radar runs (NetWeather) should give an indication what happens to that ppn as it hits the narrowing of the estuary near Gravesend.

Quite amazing. Both these links show the ppn edging West in our direction. Let's hope their intensity remains.

The flow is so slack at the moment, the thames shower is really just crawling and is weakening steadily, still may see a few flakes from it, anything would be nice to see I have to admit!

Yeah Steve I'd imagine the second option is most likely, esp given what the UKMO and to some extent the GFS does with the LP/shortwave feature...either way its not a problem for our neck of the woods.

The wind direction doesn't favour a thames streamer ! , not to say it wont change later
