ian fergusons comment in the sw thread appears a worry. Check it out. Perhaps the low may not give us the snowy end to the week it is showing?

Strangely, I can't see anything in the models that agrees with any 1991-like scenarios for the south-east. But then, given that I've got elderly parents in the area - one of whom had a heart attack on Friday and has to be ferried between various check-ups over the next few days and has to get to a clinic high up on the south downs on Thursday for an injection that might stop him going blind in one eye - perhaps I'm just being a spoil sport or indulging in as much wishful-thinking as those who want 6 feet of snow for 3 months despite all the disruption it causes everyone else.

Please guys, remember that deep snow is not good for everyone.

I know the snow is still on its way for the rest of the week but Dan played down that Country File forecast quite a bit, not very informative.

Yeah not so much snow shown on friday, moving it back a day by looks of it.

Looks like a bit of a downgrade from the Countrywise one from Tomasz earlier, looks like the chances of Tuesday night/Wednesday are fading slightly.

Remember the countryfile forecast is using the 12Z model data. That chart for Friday and the mention of snow for the weekend is a carbon copy of tonights ECM.

Please please please tread carefully everyone!!

The main Snow event is now predicted for the weekend, that's a hell of a long way away in weather terms!

Amazing countryfile forecast - Band of sleet and snow crossing the country Monday night across the north then spreading further south Tuesday.

Heavy snow showers setting in Wednesday pushing further west Thursday!

Lets stop there..... ;-)

Its not a problem for us and if anything tis better LS.

If you saw the countryfile forecast just now you'd see why, the low pressure takes longer to get out of the way and is a little stronger then was forecasted before. The 12z GFS shows what can happen in this set-up, notice just how much precip it gives on Wednesday/Thursday....

Friday remains a day where we will see the showers very likely to pack in, then Saturday could prove to be most interesting, the UKMO/GFS agreement with regards to the set-up for Saturday with a cold pool aloft is most interesting...

So if anything, its an upgrade for not just the SW, nor the SW, but a good chunk of England...

Isn't it always the same though?

The other side of the coin though is that the shower activity in the Thames Estuary appears to be intensifying and turning more Easterly. So maybe some more precipitation for this evening than was expected.

The models have delayed the set-up for the end of the week but this is because the models have UPGRADED the possible snowfall for Wednesday....indeed Wednesday looks very similar to the set-up we had in December, big uncertainties though of course!

Every day from Tuesday through to at least Satrday/Sunday has a reasonable snow threat...its a BIG upgrade for our location because it agrees with the 12z GFS very closely!
