You are right - no chance not far enough south. May get as far south as Lancaster.

What a great day snow watchers. Have had over 12cms of snow in Liverpool, (Wavertree) though just 2 miles down the road where I work only 4 cms.

Had the most treacherous 400m walk home, after i got dropped off @8pm, BUT my old favourite lamppost for watching the flakes has disappeared, behind a tree that looks like a xmas postcard!

-2.5 here now, roads almost impassable. I'm bloody made up!!!! yahoo.gif

looking at the radar, they hit the high ground to our north and east then and die out, only the odd stray shower may get over to cumbria even then will be very light

I still have my eyes on them showers coming from the NE and the Humber. They are moving across at quite a nice rate and now should be coming up to the Leeds area. I will keep tracking them for the meanwhile (Probably to no avail as the Pennines will kill them off)

I dont have the netweather radar so i would appreciate it if you can keep me updated mate, The showers will probably be eaten by the pennines but you never know !

Can you post the latest netweather radar please?

Wind Vectors bringing the batch of showers over Scarborough towards the Manchester direction within the next 2 hours, lets hope the Pennines dont kill it off.

Got a feeling by the radar and the direction of the showers that I am going to just miss the main ones or might just catch the edges of them if they make it over the Pennines.

still light snow in northwich

That appears to be heading towards us in South Liverpool but not sure if it will have any strength/snow left by the time it gets here. Our snow from this afternoon is still coating the tree branches which is very unusual here. It normally melts quite quickly so I presume it will still be here in the morning!

Ah, the end of a lovely day - sigh!

Well, its the end of the day, and what a wonderful event it has been, biggest snowfall in Manchester for many a year, and the added bonus of two snow days from work (albiet I have to work from home tomorrow, but it beats going into work)

Can I just say that so far this winter has surpassed all expectations, at least 8 days of snow falling days, many of those days where it lied and stuck for days, in fact, some parts have had lying snow/ice for nearly 2 weeks now

and we've still got January and February to come!

Night night snow lovers :yahoo:

I can hear drip drip which is strange, given standing water seems to have frozen. Having said that the temperature really is rocketing up now, it has risen 0.7C in 5 minutes.

Probably due to thicker cloud and a higher 500HP temp moving in?

Temp gone up to around 0c - can see the gaps in the cloud causing the fluctuations.

If you look at this:-

Sat Image

is that swirling cloud NW of Scotland the start of a low forming, or am I imagining things?

Anyone know the situation for our region now, will it settle down for the next few days? Any more potential events on the cards. The local forcasts wont go past Wednesday and the country wide forcast has changed Thursday to an east snow flurries.

Anyone got any heads up what to look out for?

Think any chance of me getting any showers from the NE is looking unlikely. What there is just dying out as it hits the Pennines but the band a bit further south which is on course looks good if it can get over the Pennines for Manchester southwards.

But I just look now and a few showers have just formed and grouped and seemed to have a bit of energy.

Watch the 00:15 reading.

Or is it wishful thinking? :D

I'm keeping a close eye on those showers, I think some of us may wake to another surprise snowfall
