Started to snow again in West Cornwall but its very fine powdery stuff. I'm hoping that the serious stuff will arrive, the rader looks good for the far west at the moment.

I think I do remember walking home from school with a few inches of snow on the ground in the early 80s but not sure - certainly was not a foot deep. I do have photos taken of me in the back garden in the late 70s with snow piled up everywhere though.

I think it was the winter of 81/82 and we had a foot of snow in the central of Bristol.

Also remember the evening post headline of -20 from then.

Sorry I don't post much everyone I just mainly watch the thread but I'm not going to sleep yet! I'm just hoping Bristol takes a bigger hit tonight? Had some snowfall about 30mins ago in Yate covered most things.

thx

Christmas 1981 saw a sprinkling of snow but by contrast the New Year was very mild - which was handy for streaker Erica Rowe who made her headline-grabbing naked run onto the pitch during an England rugby match at Twickenham on January 2!

Winter returned with a vengeance the following week and frost was followed by 43 hours' continuous snowfall between January 7 and 9 which deposited 18 inches (45cm) and led to huge drifts, though not quite as bad as 1962-63.

During the snow clearance operation a digger accidentally picked up a Mini that had been completely buried at Dursley!

1982 it was...the above was Dursley GLOS...hesterway Chelt had up to a ft

Just got in from work.

Nearly and inch here in Yatton, just by a shower.

Waiting for the rest of it

I'm about a mile up the road from Yatton and only a icing sugar coating here on the pavements

Do you think it will last?

Looking at the direction the heavy ppn behind it is heading, probably not but that could change.
