A bit misty now, temperature still dropping fast, -5.9C.

Watsy, That thermometer might cause some dodgy reading when the sun shines on it, but for something like posting your temperatures here tis grand I'd say! You can generally make allowances for it by just comparing to your local official weather stations to see whether it generally records values too high or low.

All schools closed in the Republic from Monday - Wednesday.

All schools in ni open for 10 thousand years!

As you can see it isn't something you find on the gadget show but is using something like this a waste of time or can it be regarded as moderately acurate. Maybe my wifes frosty attitude has some bearing on it as well. :p

That should be fairly acurate at night when there is clearly no sun on it. That's very cold indeed! I think you might find it even colder tonight!

I have heard some schools round here sent letters home saying they were expecting some very inclement weather on Sunday / Monday! Wonder where their information is coming from to prompt a letter sent home!

Ah well! Fire's lit and a wee dark rum and coke is calling! :p

p.s. -5.2 and freezing fog forming! :p

Down to -6.4C now, surely will beat my -7.6C from christmas morning.

Haven't had a decent snowfall here since January 2002, so looking forward to Sunday!

Rum & Coke is one of my favourite tipples!! Especially nice in this weather! :drinks:

Temp here in Dublin is now -7C and falling. It was misty earlier but now clearer. Temps never rose above freezing all day!

We got about 1cm of snow from a rogue shower this morning to top up already lying snow!

Needs to be dark or golden rum for me, with a nice big slice of lime ;)

Temp down to -5.6 here and didn't get above -3 today!

I'm keeping my eye open for tomorrow for a flurry or two! And then hopeful for Sunday / Monday!

How do you get the NRA data or was it a news report?

Just got to -7.6C, equalling the lowest I've recorded.

-13.7C in Tullow on the Irish Weather Network. Doesn't give the source so not sure how reliable it is.

-9.4C in Dublin airport now, nearing all time record!

-7.9C here so the lowest I've recorded.

Dublin looking very close to breaking its all time record.

Looking like a short term upgrade wrt snow this Sunday and Monday, but then slightly milder air may start to threaten. It's gonna be a close one!
