good lord it's the mother of all snow showers here now.

Edit - Hit post in my excitement!

Visibility is down to 100m or less now. If only this was sustained and not a shower!

Beastly shower dodging us by 5 miles East South East as normal, doesn't seem to be anything else heading this direction.

Did have some soft hail and a few flurries earlier though that wasn't at home.

Had a heavy shower here too, enough to give another covering and some very dark clouds heading my way although nothing showing on the radar?

Worst kind of weather, overcast, cold, featureless with little temperature change day and night.

So you are a mild ramper afterall then always thought you were as anybody who likes cold would tell you the worst kind of weather in February would obviously be a bartlett high setup.

Temp has gone below 0C here already and its still light so your little temperature change betwen day and night doesn't apply for today thats for sure.

Is it just me or was there a large Stourbridge and Halesowen shaped hole in that last shower? Oh well, still got a bit of it.

Light-moderate snow again here in Bewdley, with medium-sized flakes, but less impressive than the last lot - that Stourbridge/Halesowen hole has clipped us too!

It was heavy snow on the M42 near Solihull from about 4-15pm.

It was settling on the roads, and temp down to -1°C in places.

few heavy snow showers from 1pm, got a dusting now, looked great, temp -0.7C, should still have my 'snow' in morning, saw a few cars coming from W midlands region with lots of snow on, but no snow on cars coming from the north

12Z operational looks great for next week, need a good ecm, as it was pants 00Z

This cold spell is turning out to be more unsettled than what was predicted a few days ago with heavy snow showers being unleashed upon us. cool.gif

Almost 1cm of snow on the ground from the big snow shower earlier.

I know Im off-topic but I was just looking at the radar for some Londoners and it looks like Canterbury just took an extreme pasting, oranges and reds on the NW traditional radar.

Considering we were expecting nothing, a small dusting is pretty good going.

A small dusting on the 5th January would have been a disaster!

Its all about expectations.

...and we still got to see some good long spells of sunshine today. I thought we were facing a week of gloomy and dry conditions but its not so bad really.

As per my post last night about snow potential for early next week and the eastward movement of the low pressure to bring our cold snowy northerly todays ecm 12z has done just that and hopefully will continue this trend a bit more to enable us to have a good pasting as I think our region deserves one as if its gonna be one of the coldest winters for the last 20 - 30 years I would'nt mind remembering it for a good period of heavy snow which has eluded most of us so farclap.gif

that chart isnt that good, reminds me of the 20th December, I saw nothing, the showers will move in from cheshire gap, through manchester, and move East into derbyshire, stockport got 8 inches aggressive.gif

but a long way off yet, all types are being thrown up currently
