A very wintry looking shower just passed containing some soft hail, with bits and pieces of snow grapuals mixed in. It really almost felt like Winter descended upon me. (Admittedly, it was very tempting to go outside in it, because it looked so pretty).

I have to agree with some of the other posters and the posts I have read, that the hail, sleet and snow appears to have been more widespread than what it seemed.smile.gif

The hills by me must have an inch by now.

Andy do you have much?

Hope some more showers come along tonight.

The garden is pretty much white and there is more shower activity on it's way in too - there may well be a more general area of snow heading our way for overnight and into the morning also

Sounds good :) As always, hoping Fife/Edinburgh can get something out of it :whistling:

Seems like the snow has halted here, for a little while... Had a covering this morning, but it soon turned to slush and melted :wallbash:

Still better than nothing, I suppose :good:

We're all snow addicts.

Don't be silly, there wont be 5 foot of snow anywhere in the UK, not even on the peaks of Ben Nevis will there be 5 foot of level snow (That's fresh)

Drifts maybe, level snow, no chance mate.

Just back from the Galtees where the snow had accumulated in slightly odd ways. It seems the southern slopes have the most snow, 1-4ft in places. Perhaps the wind was too strong on the north slope and blew a lot off the snow off?

Will hopefully post the pictures and maybe a video or two later if I can.

Got caught in some vicious hail showers too, with hail drifting to over a foot on top of the snow in some places!

How much snow was there at home?

Rain/sleet or snow here for tomorrow. Might be too warm for snow.

Well another miserable day here with a maximum of 1c, heavy wet snow and a fresh to strong N wind. Its trying to settle now as can be seen in photo but just a few miles inland there must be masses of snow and lots of disruption according to local radio.post-2744-12700565159255_thumb.jpgCan actually see on the photo where the dry snow starts to fall just a mile to the south of us.

According to ITV a foot of snow fell in 6 minutes in NI!

That's got to be impossible, surely?

No snow up here, even on the moors towards Waskerley which is close to 500m. Looks like Weardale and parts of Northumberland have done better.

Snow in April with 850pHa's of -3/-4 is pretty unlikely though we may but the Chesire Gap may well bring in a few snow showers tonight while 850pHa's are at -5/-6pHa.

The Uppers are too warm for snow unfortunately, possibly tomorrow over Snowdonia some snow showers, but for low ground in Wales and England, the showers will be of rain.

Cant rule it out but rain with sleety/snow bursts in the heavier stuff most probable.

Highest 5-minute total *32 mm 10 August 1893 Preston (Lancashire)

Going by this i suppose it is possible, but only during an intense downpour.

Looking further

Most in one minute: 38 millimetres (1.5 in); Barst, Guadeloupe, 1970-11-26.

Imagine if that fell as snow, 38cm of snow in 1 minute :whistling:
