Yes, i think the wind is also quite strong there right now. I think it looked more spectacular last night but even now i dont think its far off that!

A heck of alot of Ash being emitted right now. Barely any white in the plume right now. Looks pretty amazing again right now!

EDIT: The plume seems to have just died right down. A good example of the 'pulses'.

Looking at the webcam, another plume has begun. Tbh any breaks in the plumes seem to be very brief.

In Iceland, the volcano continued to erupt, but volcanologists said it was less explosive than at the beginning of the eruption on Wednesday, which blasted glassy abrasive ash, destructive to jet engines, eight miles into the sky. The plume is now rising to a height of just three miles, and volcanologists said this would deposit ash only in Iceland and surrounding waters. It is not high enough to travel thousands of miles across Britain and the rest of Europe. Matthew Roberts, a glaciologist at the Iceland Meteorological Office, said they had not ruled out further big blasts but added: 'There is currently no new material being added to the ash stream affecting aviation in Europe

Funny I read somewhere it had been pushing up too 28,000ft earlier on. Right now it isn't though.

The volcano is only giving off very brief pulses now-not really of Ash now either.

It's playing it's having a rest bless it.

However the plume shows there's still plenty of water left which means any fresh rising magma will still be more explosive in nature than without it. That's ignoring the fact that magma is more explosive by nature anyway.

One big pulse going up right now.

Certainly doesn't look as active as it has been, clould easily flare up overnight though.

Present plume going pretty high though. http://www.mulakot.net/myndavelar.html seems to be the only one sending data again.

I was thinking that quote seemed a bit odd - especially watching some of the eruptions yesterday and today! Also if you go to the 'Invent' section on the Met Office website and click on 'Cloud vis' you can clearly see the plume heading south from Iceland which is presumably going to effect the UK/Europe

Certainly seems to have died down over the last 30 mins or so though..

Very interesting this though I hope it clears to allow flights back soon for all the people that are stuck.

Edit: as soon as I say that it begins to get more active again!

Seems to have jumped back into life again after a quick snooze. Will it last long but a bit of Ash with this one too by the looks of it.

Lots of Ash with this plume now...
