How much of an issue is the wind going to be?

We're having building work done at the moment and have half the roof missing. The taupaulins seem to do ok at keeping the rain out but I'm more concerned about the prospect of gusty winds tearing the whole lot off!

How much is South/SouthEast Wales likely to get from this? As we have had enough rain the last week or so!!

The 06z NAE suggests about 20mm for Swansea and about 24mm for Cardiff , more to the extreme South East of Wales. But there will be changes on the 12z NAE. But GFS has about 10mm for South-East Wales on the 06z run........

Several rumbles of thunder in with the rain that passed over in the last couple of hours

Oh yes. Looking at that radar picture, looks likely we could get a much needed soaking.

I do wonder ever so slightly if the main band will shift slightly East...but keep the same orientation, having looked at the latest radars...possibly entering around the bournemouth area but with the same angle of attack then affecting M3/A303, Swindon/Wilts as a West and Surrey/NW Kent as the East...with much more effect over West, SW and NW/NE London....

I think maybe you got that impression because a lot of the heavy precipitation was off the edge of the radar area at the time. Now we are starting to see more of it thats further to the east and north of the first bit that showed up on the radar. Looks juicy.

My cripes. Looking at Rain Today (sorry!) but you can look at the intensity of that rain band that is coming in - someone somewhere is going to get enough rain to keep the gnomes happy...

On the NW radar, It looks most heavy on the western flank..

Currently ~18mm/hour

GFS shows it as nice n dry by 6am here :p

Still dry here at the moment (just).

What is worrying is that its flat calm here- the sea is like a sheet of ice out there. When that rain hits (probably in an hour or so) and unless the wind picks up its going to be an interesting and very wet evening here.

Yeah to my untrained eyes it does appear that the main action could end up a little bit further north than has been suggested previously, based the the radar right now, but its probably still a bit early to judge?
