Well we had 2 rumbles out the cells that was pushing NE out of wales. Shame as they were quite meaty on the radar. Ahh well!

funny that, as I had 2 HUUUUGE military helicopters go overhead about an hour ago and jumped up at 1st thinking it might be thunder! They were the ones with the 2 propeller front and back (transport?)

That would be a Chinook!!

Storm just going to my west/northwest and just heard some thunder from it! Whilst in class thismorning I saw 4flashes of lightning and had about 7-8 rumbles of thunder which was nice, 2 of which were overhead and very loud! Had some very heavy rain and strong gusty winds with it too! Not a bad day to be honest, got more than I expected!

Good luck Brian :D I don't want to have to hand you a membership for the No Storms Club

Thanks JL :D They appear to be around 15 miles away, looking at the radar, so I shouldn't have to wait too long.

somr distant thunder rumbling away....Some rapid development in those cells to the north of Birmingham/east of Stafford!

To illustrate the rapid development, compare the 2 NW radar grabs, 10 minutes apart.....Now, thats what I call explosive convection!!

That must be the storm going to my west, keep hearing thunder from it every now and then! Looks like more to come from the south west also? just hope they can shift a little futher east to get a direct hit :)

This looked like a Wales into the Midlands and then NE event earlier today, but with the memory of Saturdays's no-show, there was a degree of caution going on first thing!

Nice to see people getting a good storm at this time of year and broadly following the info that was on offer this morning. I suspect the storms may rattle on up the country for a few hours yet.

We were never in the firing line though here in the SE, our day will come soon!

It looks huge from here, and the sunshine on it, making it look angry, looks like Neath is having most of the action, these storms are rather small in size but deliver alot of rain.
