WOW, pleasantly surprised to get the tail end of that cell. It produced about 3 minutes of hard rain, followed by a double rainbow and then 3 CC lightnings with very loud thunder! Impressed!

Heres a time-lapse of the storm that Alza and Peter F caught ... Not one drop of rain here in South Shields as yet again it slips just to the west.

Again I apologize for the quality, youtube not me..!!

Did you hear any thunder from it?

I don't think the quality is bad by traditional timelapse standards- I've noticed that Windswept's are pretty impressive but they are the exception rather than the rule, and on the whole your timelapses do a good job of capturing the cloud formations. It's good to see footage of the, ahem, near-miss that I missed out on!

That shower over the Pennines is fading, so looks like I might not get any more thunder today. Still, I've had 2 great thunderstorms yesterday and today, and I'd be happy if I'd seen today's storm in Florida thanks to the great display of blue lightning before the rain came in. Also, the thunder cracked rather than rumbled. crazy.gif

Vicious looking cell approaching. Can already hear some thunder and the TV is flickering!

:shok: I'd unplug it if I were you mate. Better to be safe I always say.

Played golf at 11am on a beautiful sunny morning-just managed to finish and get home about 4pm whhen the storm broke,we had several flashes from cloud to cloud that were visible and quite a few claps of thunder accompanied by heavy rain. We do not get much in the way of thunderstorms in this locality so two on successive days is most unusual but very enjoyable when watching from the safety of ones house!

I did hear distant thunder Ian, but still audible so they must have been crackin' over Newcastle.

No chance. Grandad is watching weakest link

I think it's because it is running on an ariel.

Still, hopefully I get some hail from this. I'll upload pics shortly.

It kinda worries me, we're in a metal caravan here. Might turn everything off tbh.

Radar suddenly going bare! Something has just killed almost all of the showers, apart from the thunderstorms exiting the east coast, and the one in Northern Ireland and the one in Wales. On the 17:00 radar Northern England was full of thundery showers, at 17:30 its almost dry!!

This is turning into a fantastic evening. There seems to be cells spring up everywhere at the moment. There's some major development to my South East now. :D

Showers look just light near here now. :( Thundery activity to our West, North and North East today. :(

Keep an eye on south-west Wales.

It was funny teaching today....hearing the kids scream at lunchtime out on a playground as there was a growl of thunder from a nearby storm.

Some small hail around the Merry Hill area driving home an hour agao as well.

Could the radar be faulty? It seems funny that all the showers in Northern England disappeared? Also there are some threatening clouds to my west once again.

Or maybe they were all part of the same system and it decayed.

The best storms so far today seem to have been in the far NE of England and Northern Ireland as expected, but more recently the South Wales cells seem to have really got going!

Intense storm in SW Wales but very unlikely to reach here i think especially given everything else has rapidly died out. We did have that hail shower but other than that, a very poor day compared to pretty much just a few miles away from us.

For every 6th May there has to be a 9th May!

Just like for every 18th December, there has to be a 22nd December.

...if you get what I mean!

In other words...we can't have them all!
