Rain in the eastern Mediterranean but fine for most

Wednesday

Early rain clears England and spreads in across The Low Countries, into Denmark and much of France. Rain too is expected across northern Germany with heavy snow in the south and into Poland and western Finland. Cold but dry across eastern Finland into the Baltic States and Belarus. Heavy snow will fall across Russia with rain, sleet and snow across the Ukraine and Romania. Heavy snow will again fall across the Alps Cold with sunny spells across Norway and Sweden with a few snow showers. Fine and sunny across Portugal and Spain with heavy, frequent showers from Sardinia across Sicily into the south of Italy into Crete and western parts of Turkey. Cold but dry with sunny spells for northern Italy and across into Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia into Bulgaria.

Thursday

High pressure brings a fine day to most of Spain and Portugal through today. This fine weather is going to be affecting France throughout the day. Some cloud and drizzle through the Low Countries and Germany as well as Poland. Mainly fair in Austria and Hungary, but some cloud and drizzle over Switzerland. Unsettled weather over Italy and Greece with low of cloud, rain and very windy weather here. The rain affecting western parts of Turkey, but the east should be dry. Romania and Bulgaria will be dry with some sunny spells. To the north it will be fine through the Baltic States with more sunshine to come here. Sweden should be dry with sunny spells, but cloud and outbreaks of rain will be affecting Norway and Denmark.

Wet eastern Mediterranean

Rain to the north

Cloud and rain in the eastern Mediterranean and the far north of Europe, but fair in central and western areas

Thursday

High pressure brings a fine day to most of Spain and Portugal through today. This fine weather is going to be affecting France throughout the day. Some cloud and drizzle through the Low Countries and Germany as well as Poland. Mainly fair in Austria and Hungary, but some cloud and drizzle over Switzerland. Unsettled weather over Italy and Greece with low of cloud, rain and very windy weather here. The rain affecting western parts of Turkey, but the east should be dry. Romania and Bulgaria will be dry with some sunny spells. To the north it will be fine through the Baltic States with more sunshine to come here. Sweden should be dry with sunny spells, but cloud and outbreaks of rain will be affecting Norway and Denmark.

Friday

Another fair day across Portugal and Spain with some good spells of sunshine here. It should stay fair through France too with more sunny spells, although there is a threat of fog in the south. That fog affecting the north of Italy too, but the south will be breezier. Cloud and rain through Greece and parts of Turkey, some of it heavy at times. For the Low Countries and Germany there will be some cloud on northern coasts, but for most the day is going to be dry with sunny spells. Cloudy with some rain in Poland, whilst Switzerland, Hungary and Austria will have some sunshine after morning fog clears. Windier weather to the north of Europe bringing cloud and periods of rain through Denmark and the Baltic States. Windy with more cloud and rain or snow over Finland and Sweden. Brighter weather following to the west of Norway and turning cooler here.

Fine in the western Mediterranean but unsettled to the east

Christmas Eve

Fair across Spain and Portugal with some good spells of sunshine here. It stays dry and fine across most of France and the Low Countries too. There will be some cloud and rain affecting the northwest of Italy and southeast France with strong winds here. Fair through the Low Countries and Germany. Southern Italy will have some sunny spells and should be dry, whilst Greece is cold and dry as well. Some showers across Turkey, a few of them heavy. Fair for Bulgaria and Romania and feeling cold here. To the north there will be some fair and mild conditions through Norway and Denmark, with morning rain clearing the east coast of Sweden. Christmas Day

Outbreaks of rain will affect Poland, Belarus, Austria and Hungary with snow across the former Yugoslavia. Expect snow to come across Finland and Russia today but dry with sunny spells across the Baltic States into Sweden and Norway.

Tuesday

Switzerland, Hungary and Austria will be cooler with sunny spells. Italy will have showers and some cloud through northern areas, whilst the south is going to be drier and brighter. Sunny spells and dry weather in Greece where it will be cool. Showers affecting Turkey, some of them heavy. To the north low pressure brings some snow showers through the Baltic States and Finland where it is going to be colder. A fine day in Norway and Sweden with good spells of sunshine to come here.

Today

A dry day to come across England today and dry weather moves into western parts of France. A strong mistral will affect southern France today. An area of rain extends across eastern France into Germany and western Poland while heavy snows falls across southern Germany, eastern Poland, Hungry into Austria and the former Yugoslavia. Heavy showers replace morning rain across Belgium and Holland. Very cold but dry and sunny across Norway, Finland and Sweden into western Russia with sub zero temperatures while snow moves into the Baltic States. Some rain and snow today across the Ukraine, dry with sunny spells for Romania and much of Greece. Rain is forecast for western parts of Turkey with now in the east. Heavy showers will affect the eastern Mediterranean with a dry day across Italy westward into Spain and Portugal.

Monday

Another dry day to come across England into Belgium and the Netherlands. Light outbreaks of rain are forecast for Denmark, northern France and northern Germany with more heavy snow in the south and across Austria, Poland into the Baltic States. Snow too is in the forecast across Norway, eastern Turkey and across the former Yugoslavia. Sunny, dry and cold across Sweden and Finland today. Heavy snow is expected across Russia into the eastern Ukraine. Some snow too across the former Yugoslavia but dry across Romania into Greece. Still plenty of heavy showers to come across Sicily east into the Mediterranean. Lots of dry weather will prevail from Italy across the Balearics into southern France, Spain and Portugal.

High pressure is building into western Europe as it becomes more settled. So a dry day across England, most of France and into Belgium, Holland, Denmark and most of Germany. Lots of dry weather too today for Portugal, Spain, the Balearics into most of Italy. Rain and snow is expected across Poland with snow moving in across the Baltic States into Belarus, Hungry and the former Yugoslavia. Dry for Romania and the Ukraine. Outbreaks of heavy snow are forecast across much of Turkey today with heavy rain showers for Greece into Crete and Cyprus. Mainly dry and cold for Norway, Sweden and Finland while more snow is expected across Russia.

Snow through northern Europe but fair to the south

Wednesday

Lots of fair, dry weather to come across England and France today. An area of rain is expected from The Baltic States into Poland, southern Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Holland and Belgium. This will be heavy across Finland with some snow in eastern Poland across into Russia. A cold day across the Balkans today with sunny spells across Hungry, Romania, Bulgaria and the former Yugoslavia. More heavy snow in the forecast across Turkey today with still plenty of rain showers across the eastern Mediterranean. Sunny and dry across Italy westward into the Balearics, Spain and Portugal. Sunny and dry across the Alps, Switzerland and Austria. Dry and cold as well across Norway.

Thursday

Staying fair across most of Spain and Portugal through today. There will be good spells of sunshine, although inland areas are likely to be seeing some fog patches at first. Conditions stay fine through France too and it is going to be remaining dry and sunny in Italy. Greece looks set tot have some showers in the east, whilst Turkey stays unsettled. Stronger winds and some rain affecting the north of the Low Countries and northern Germany. Windy too through Poland with rain in the north. For Austria, Switzerland and Hungary the day should be dry with sunny spells. To the north some heavy snow affects southern parts of Sweden. Strong winds with rain turning to sleet and snow over Denmark. The wind and rain preceded by sleet and snow as it heads into the Baltic States. Finland should be cold and dry, as will be northern Norway and Sweden
