Wintry showers in east

More wintry weather in eastern Europe, but largely fair to the west

Thursday

Staying fair across most of Spain and Portugal through today. There will be good spells of sunshine, although inland areas are likely to be seeing some fog patches at first. Conditions stay fine through France too and it is going to be remaining dry and sunny in Italy. Greece looks set tot have some showers in the east, whilst Turkey stays unsettled. Stronger winds and some rain affecting the north of the Low Countries and northern Germany. Windy too through Poland with rain in the north. For Austria, Switzerland and Hungary the day should be dry with sunny spells. To the north some heavy snow affects southern parts of Sweden. Strong winds with rain turning to sleet and snow over Denmark. The wind and rain preceded by sleet and snow as it heads into the Baltic States. Finland should be cold and dry, as will be northern Norway and Sweden.

Friday

A few showers may affect the south of Spain and Portugal through today, but more northern areas stay dry and sunny. Low pressure over northern Italy brings some showers here, a few of them on the heavy side. Greece and Turkey should be dry with sunny spells, although will be cool again. Central Europe sees some cloud and outbreaks of rain over southern France, this extending through Switzerland, Austria and Hungary where there will be further snow. A cold day through Scandinavia with strong winds and snow showers. These snow showers pushing south into Poland and Germany. The snow showers could be heavy in the east at times. Most of France should be dry overall with some bright spells.

Cold and wintry weather in eastern Europe, but fine to the west

Friday

A few showers may affect the south of Spain and Portugal through today, but more northern areas stay dry and sunny. Low pressure over northern Italy brings some showers here, a few of them on the heavy side. Greece and Turkey should be dry with sunny spells, although will be cool again. Central Europe sees some cloud and outbreaks of rain over southern France, this extending through Switzerland, Austria and Hungary where there will be further snow. A cold day through Scandinavia with strong winds and snow showers. These snow showers pushing south into Poland and Germany. The snow showers could be heavy in the east at times. Most of France should be dry overall with some bright spells.

Saturday

Another fair day to come across most of Portugal and Spain. Sunny spells extending into France although there could be some mist and fog patches forming inland here. More fair weather, although the threat of fog patches too for the Low Countries and western Germany. eastern Germany and Poland will be breezier and cold with sunny spells and some wintry showers. Switzerland, Austria and Hungary should be dry but fairly cold. Italy has some cloud and rain in northern and western areas but the south should be dry with sunny spells. More cloud and some showers through Greece and Turkey, some of the rain heavy at times here. To the north low pressure brings snow and strong winds through Finland and the Baltic States. More strong winds and cold weather affecting eastern Sweden, but to tuhe west it will be cold and generally dry.

Today

High pressure is building into western Europe as it becomes more settled. So a dry day across England, most of France and into Belgium, Holland, Denmark and most of Germany. Lots of dry weather too today for Portugal, Spain, the Balearics into most of Italy though some heavy showers in the extreme south into across the eastern Mediterranean. Snow is expected across Poland with snow moving in across the Baltic States into Belarus, Hungry and The Ukraine with snow showers across the former Yugoslavia and Romania. Outbreaks of rain for Greece with showers into Crete and Cyprus. Mainly dry and cold for Turkey, Norway, Sweden with more snow across Finland and Russia.A windy day in the eastern Mediterranean with strong, northerly gales across eastern Europe.

Outbreaks of snow are forecast across Austria and Hungry with a dry, cold day for Poland, Romania and Bulgaria. Very cold with heavy snow across Russia and The Ukraine but dry across The Baltic States, Finland and Belarus. Cold but dry across Greece and western Turkey with snow across eastern Turkey. Mainly a dry day today across the former Yugoslavia with a sunny, dry day across all of Italy, Switzerland into Spain and Portugal with showers around the Balearics.

Wednesday

Fine weather through Portugal and Spain with good spells of sunshine. This sunshine extends into the south of France. Italy should have a fair day although there could be some morning mist and fog patches inland. Greece and Turkey should be staying fine too with some good spells of sunshine. Cloud and some outbreaks of rain over northern France. This cloud and rain will be spreading to the Low Countries. Increasing cloud through northern and western Germany. Eastern Germany and Poland will be drier with some sunny spells. Some cloud and drizzle through the Baltic States and Finland. Norway should be dry and fair with good spells of sunshine here. Cloud and increasing winds through Denmark bringing some rain here. Rain too moving into western parts of Sweden.

Strong winds continue across northern parts of Europe into southern France and into the central and eastern Mediterranean with gale force south east winds across eastern Europe. Dry across England and northern parts of France today but windy. Rain is forecast across Belgium, Holland, Germany and southern France. Cold and windy with snow expected across Norway, Finland, Russia, The Baltic States, Poland, Belarus into Romania and eastern Turkey. Dry with sunny spells across Bulgaria, western Turkey into Greece and most of Italy. Quite a few heavy showers persist around Cyprus. Long sunny spells are forecast across Portugal, Spain into the Balearics. Cold but dry across Sweden today.

Monday

Increasingly cold across Britain with rain and snow in the far west and snow showers in the east. Rain too into western France but dry and sunny across central and eastern France and this increasingly cold but dry weather extends east across Germany, Belgium, Holland into Poland across into Russia. Bitterly cold but dry and sunny across much of Scandinavia as well. Lots of crisp, wintry sunshine is expected across Romania into the former Yugoslavia, Hungry and Bulgaria with more cloud across Greece with snow showers and heavy snow across Turkey. Heavy snow is also expected over Switzerland and Austria with snow for parts of northern Italy and rain in the south. Frequent heavy showers will affect an area from Sardinia east to Crete. Fair and dry with sunny spells across Spain and Portugal today with morning frost.

Wednesday

More sunshine to come across France and Germany as well as the Low Countries, although it is going to be feeling very cold here. Dry and very cold around the Alps too. Rain in Italy may turn to snow in the north, some of it becoming heavy at times. The eastern Mediterranean goes back into the cold conditions too with some snow in eastern Turkey. To the north high pressure is in control and this brings very cold conditions through Scandinavia. Finland and Sweden will be bitterly cold, and this cold weather extends through Denmark and into Norway.

Thursday

A cold day across Spain and Portugal with some showery outbreaks of rain in the south. The cold weather affects much of the central Mediterranean too. Italy will be cold with some showers here, a few of them on the heavy side. Greece and Turkey will be cold throughout with temperatures below normal here. Central Europe maintains the cold conditions, although there will be some sunshine in France. Breezy and chilly through the Low Countries and Germany with the risk of some snow showers affecting Switzerland and Hungary. Poland should be dry and cold. The very cold conditions continue to the north with bitter weather through Denmark and Finland. Some heavy snow showers over Sweden, but drier for Norway.

Friday

Staying cold through Spain and Portugal although there will be good spells of sunshine. Low pressure is going to be over the south of Italy and this is going to be bringing strong winds here with some rain and the risk of snow on the mountains of Italy. Greece and Turkey will be milder with some sunshine and it should be dry here too. Through central Europe conditions are going to be cold. A strong northeasterly will be affecting southern France and northern Italy as well as Switzerland, Hungary and Austria with some snow in the eastern Alps. The far north of France, the Low Countries and Germany and well as Poland. There could be some snow flurries on these northern coasts. Northern Europe should be mainly dry and bitterly cold. It should be mainly dry through Norway and Denmark with some sunshine here. More sunshine for Sweden and Finland and staying cold.
