How reliable is Metcheck? They have over 700 j/kg for my area in the early hours,I know CAPE isn't everything needed for a storm but still thats quite a good amount.

All calming down around here now. Only ended up with the one storm on top of me...but lots of rattling thunder from right to my south and east when it was all going after that.

Good couple of hours of activity.

Yes the train of showers are already over now pretty much. But good to have some storm activity again. :)

Was beginning to get a little impatient. Lol.

In between showers to the north and storms to the south. Even though we had three distant rumbles of thunder, we were in prime position today and once again missed out. So yeah, another utterly onionse day.

Agreed, although I'm watching those showers coming out of Wales right now.

Think im going to give up now,Just 1 rumble of thunder and heavy rain here today,I agree it all kicks of after passing Bristol,Nothing new there for people down this way.

Too right. Ideally we would want the low further to the southwest so that the winds take a SErly direction - we always get good when that happens (12th Aug 2004, 24th Sept 2006) etc.

Surely you guys must find it fascinating that for 3 consecutive days there has been a train of showers in virtually the same place?

I would expect one of the reasons for the extra 'oomph' after showers leave Bristol is the moisture from the Bristol Channel.

Mike: how much rain have you had in the last 3 days? I notice you've had 30mm today.

This cloud from about 18:30 looking northeast is developing as it moves north.... Got a video of the monsoon at work today which I will try post later if I can figure it all out!

Atrocious conditions on the A69 - torrential rain with flashes of lightning. Had to pull over!

Yes Andy it is quite fascinating with the amount of rain we have had and how heavy it's been at times,But with storms all over the place but nothing here it's getting frustrating,2011 down here is like a replay of 2010 with absolutely nothing storm wise happening,It is cool to see what others are getting or have seen but when you haven't got anything yourself you start thinking why do i bother,Its only weather i know but when storms are one of your interests but your not getting any its soooooo annoying.

Yet another large and menacing cell approaching again from the WNW. Sky is very dark and could very well be very similar to what happened earlier.

Is that between Newcastle and Carlisle? Or is that the one near Scotch Corner?

Scotch Corner is the A1 mate.

I think he was thinking of the A66, that joins the A1 at Scotch Corner.

Anyone know if any of that rain in North Wales is electrically active and if its going to head towards Macclesfield. Not had anything since 28 June.
