The edinburgh rain is starting to approach in the distance but I believe it's lost a lot of it's punch. How annoying that it seems so near yet so far

Seeing reports of thunderstorms in this area. Nothing from here, but black clouds to the SE/S and E.

Got this baby to my West, heading N, looks like its got Shrewsbury in its sights.

Yep, I can see not one, but two cells from where I'm looking in Solihull. Looks interesting for your area.

YOu might be able to see thigns our this way, but all they are (and the moment) are very heavy showers if you get a direct hit... however looking at the Netweather Radar there is what looks like the most potent one yet just on our door step... no thunder and lightening yet, but an intresting weather day none the less!

Just punched through the cell over the Peaks, and boy did the rain come down - fantastic fun driving back through it and to the safe dry haven that is Dronfield.

Not sure it'll hit here directly, but then again saw no lightning.

There was the smallest hint of a FC cloud here briefly 3 mins ago, confirmed by the latest NW Radar update with a small hook, but seems moisture inhibition has exhausted whatever rotation was trying to drop that FC and now been replaced by just deep, dark bases with some slight rain falling instead.

Wait, just got this one:

Tornado hits Bognor Regis

Published on Friday 8 July 2011 11:48

Homes in Bognor Regis have been damaged by what eye witnesses have called a tornado. The incident happened about 9am today (Friday, July 8 ). Emergency services were called to the scene and Sussex Police quickly cordoned off the area. Properties in Linden Road, Dorset Road, Highland Avenue and Murina Avenue are being inspected by officers from West Sussex Fire and Rescue service. Firefighters then assessed the roof damage caused by the storm which passed through the area. Police officers were on the scene clearing up debris.

There have been no reports of injuries to anybody.

Indeed I believe it was earlier today, let's hope it's not our fellow nw member from Bognor Regis ms. Coldfinger's house. :help:

It was shown briefly on BBC south today, so you maybe able to catch it again later.

Cheers

yeah i feel very lucky today, this setup is very unusual for us this far north, cant recall a day like today.

this storm seems to be intensifying aswell as it passes us,is there a particular reason for this ?
