So much for people (falesly) claiming the South East get all the storms! The North has had the best of it this year.

The northeast has had the best of the weather for the past 12 months! All the snow in winter, all the storms in summer, couldn't make it up.

The north east has, here it's a storm desert. Heck, it's even a rain desert!

The showers around Cheshire now are going to skirt round Crewe then intensify once they have pushed through, heading NE. Mark my words.

heavy rain and thunder here now but no lightning yet, there will be plenty of minor flooding around before the day is out in the north east i think

Incredible rain up North it seems and yet more storms. You lot have been so lucky!

Meanwhile we've just had a light shower. Some storms across Ireland but just rain in Wales it seems right now.

good chance the toons game will be abandoned when that next cell hits.

Where is the cell at the minute Peter I only have raintoday and it's all a massive orange colour! They are out at the minute but did say on the radio they might call it off if it gets any worse..

Tomorrow the Beeb are going for showers funnelling through Wales, Northwest England and into the Midlands with the Southwest also joining in the fun. As the convection fills in around the low's center which will (by then) be out over Central Scotland. Still continual heavy rain affecting the Scottish Central belt but this low center is progged to move out by tomorrow afternoon, still carrying the showers along behind it.

Got a real pasting over the last hour, was quite scary at times. Still shaking after a large bolt of lightning somewhere over the Industrial Estate between Shotton and Peterlee. The thunder nearly knocked me off my feet.

Brighter sky pushing up from my south now :shok: :shok:, if the beeb are correct it shouldn't be long till further heavy rain moves in.

I may sound thick here Gavin but push in from where? It looks clear to the south there? Is it likely to intensify again?

Radar update, and looks like the pivot motion has begun. Where the rain is now it'll be placed for the next 5 hours at the least. Brace yourselves for the flood warnings to start racing in.

I saw clouds from all directions today, a bit of sea fret which has now gone. It is nice to see the actual bases of the storms rather than stratus.

No worries, it's been called off anyway. Loads of flooding around the NE now and looks like only getting worse..

Yes further rain will develop later today and it will stall for a time over northern England before moving north into Scotland.

No gone very quiet for now after a couple of forked lightning displays about half an hour ago, not sure that I will see anymore but been a fab day like, the flooding is not going to be the focus!

Seems the lightning activity has died, just the odd one further south east.
