Hi all, don't know if you've had this link.

It's a good interactive map with up to date info on the

hurricane, predictions and air recon' details too.

It might be worth putting a few links for data and info for Irene into the pinned thread here, so they don't get lost in the posts:

the pier is taking a beating... is that the one that was just re built?

Must have quietened down now. Seen much larger seas at Scarborough. Perhaps a problem of nothing to get an idea of magnitude from.

A good article here on fuelling Hurricaine Irene.

A couple of very Hi-Res shots of the SST profile and also the Tropical Cyclone Heat Potential.

Not directly Irene related, but an excellent time lapse of the Tornado Season http://www.nnvl.noaa.gov/MediaDetail.php?MediaID=731&MediaTypeID=2

Just been watching the Weather Channel, a lot of that flooding will be storm surge- the winds there are virtually Easterly, with some outer bands still to come in.

Some interesting radar. This is Norfolk, Virginia with wind barbs and sat overlay. Note direction and speed of barbs. Ocracoke giving steady 50kts. Plus enhanced WV sat. supporting the position.

Link of the local TV network in Norfolk, VA if anyone's interested. http://www.ustream.t...ec-13-news-live Live reports from reporters getting wet and blown around too.

Very many thanks for that link, I have been looking for a live broadcast.

At the moment this is looking like the worst is past. We had worse winds in Bognor during the '87 storm and far worse damage....... so far anyway for today. Only the storm surge tonight is likely to be a major problem for some areas.

Lettuceing mental when you hear sirens and cop cars driving by in the street and loud megaphone voice in American accent saying "This is a mandatory evacuation order for all residents on the ground floor !" , "This is a mandatory evacuation order for all residents on the ground floor !". It's a bit like a Hollywood moment, especially when you had a few the night before, do you know what I mean? Anyway, I got the misses in the kitchen now cooking up some sweet chicken, so will step away for an hour. More updates to follow...

Of a liverpool fourm he is going to take vids.. and put them on youtube after... could be interesting... but being serous,,, winds our pathetic from what i saw earlier.. its all about rain and storm surge?

he 2nd floor in band b in new york ... shell i tell him to get out?

My B*M is safe and so is Burtons window

As expected my flight into New york planned for tomorrow has been cancelled and I am sat in a hotel at Manchester airport and have been given a few potential dates to fly. The latest possibilty is Monday and so will keep fingers crossed that the flight goes and our destination is not under water.

Irene centre has just left land near the NC/WV border @ Knotts island (back bay/currituck sound 36.28N 75.50W) and has a 300 mile track over sea, aside from flirting with land North of Atlantic city, she is still @950mb and despite no recent SFMR data the low level outflow extends a great distance all the way down into the Bahamas/Caribbean therefore despite her cat1 status, conflicting her shear size, it would be extremely foolish to cast her off as I would not be surprised at 80-90mph winds to affect the LI area and we have all seen the surge!

A sting in the tail for what has been a very unusual Hurricane and continues too!

Good photos. Cant open some but that house surrunded like water sure looks like one was on BBC and they were trimming the palm trees before the storm...probably not though just that most houses look the same.

Wonder how things faired last night?
