Don't think so, showers are fading quickly as they move further in land by the look of things.

But Steve if you check the radar from the morning (say start at 07.00) the Northern extent of the downpours has gradually spread N/NE, which is why

a dry morning here - while having a great sky full of CBs, anvils and TCu to admire as they inched closer - came to an abrupt end with a downpour in

the last half an hour.

I'm guessing this N/NE movement is as a trough slowly extends in that direction, but regardless there are certainly plenty of very heavy showers and

downpours around over S.Somerset/Dorset/Wiltshire/Hampshire.

In the last 26 hours it hasn't ever rained for very long but here there were torrential downpours at 11.30, 16.30 and 21.30 yesterday then at 00.30 and

12.30 today.

The one just after midnight woke us both up and, more amazingly, we could hear it pouring down somewhere nearby once it had stopped overhead!

Nothing of interest here last night according to people around, i conked out pretty much straight away so i wouldn't know! Sun has been breaking through the cloud consistently for the last couple of hours! Extremely mild again!

Man I kept seeing the Lightning from the storms you guys had but was so distant, they only missed me by a fraction :( hopefully today will produce lots of showers developing in the channel to my south moving my way so my fingers are crossed :D

Ditto mate, all I had was heavy rain as far as I know so if you do get any can you send them over to me please :D

Rain more moderate in nature now but still a dull overcast day with nothing of any interest going on,I think yesterday and lastnight had more potential for some action than today but still early days for maybe something to happen but im going to stick with it most likely wont,Good luck all and if you get something give it a nudge this way :)

Don't think it's going to happen today. Not much around these parts other than moderate showers. A few more moderate showers to the southwest. We need that SE flow that we had yesterday.

Nope, some of us have been spoilt in the last 24 hours, others may get a turn again soon:

Lets see what a weeks time brings, looks like it is going to be quiet until at least then

Mother Nature has well and truly spat in our faces today. Literally. Disappointed but expected and still some hefty pulses of rain about. Hoping for a decent 2012 storm 'season' now I think....

HOWEVER...some of the rain seems to be intensifying slightly, but after its gone past, typical!!!!

NAE advertising a period of really quite heavy rain through the west midlands, Welsh borders, into northern England this evening- don't know if it's going to be convective in nature though.

That's what I am beginning to think about too, seem to recall posting last week looking ahead to this week having thundery potential and it has come off and now

there looks to be another shot at an unstable flow from the South next week!

I don't usually like posts referring to 'what if it was summer!?' but can't help but think if this period of conditions had happened between late April - late September

how hot and widespread thundery it would have been!

It's definitely going to be convective IMO, a big swathe of heavy/torrential rain on the radar to my south, and looking up to the skies, a large clump of towering anvils encroaching from the south, the sky looks very dark, angry & turbulent

Hoping that big chunk of heavy rain reaches here. Unusually it appears to be gaining intensity over land.

Sounds promising AJ.....the NAE is certainly a fan of it developing and pushing north but who knows.
