Nothing is ever set in stone with these setups; last January there was a cold westerly which delivered a surprise snowfall of 5-10cm in Country Durham, and I got 2cm from the northern edge of it. NW England was forecast to get most of the wintry showers, but it ended up being too marginal for snow there below about 250m. I think Alston and Shap were hammered though.

Also, whilst Newcastle often stays dry in a NW wind, its rare for us to get no showers from the W or WNW. No idea why though, I assume its because from a NW wind the showers have to cross the Scottish Highlands and the Cheviots, rather than just the Pennines.

After last winter all my hope in a NW wind has completely vanished. Though if this was December 2010, then we would have gotten a few cm I reckon, since more showers are making it over those pesky Pennines.

Knew that band would be nice hope it can hit me but doubt it will pass pennines or change course slightly north to hit me and 2.7c why is it so high?

How the hell have you come to the conclusion that 2.7C is high? Your dewpoint is below zero so you're ok.......

Just that it was 2.4c at 5:09 then increased to 2.7c at 5:50 but now back to 2.6c which is good and dew point only just sub zero

Dewpoint is basically the ground temperature and for snow to lie it needs to be sub zero.

Dewpoint can't be higher than the air temperature mate. It'll be below zero in these conditions, so very conductive to snow :)

Hail in suburban Liverpool, about five miles from the coast.

Lamppost watch for sleet/snow is as yet inconclusive.

the wind is more NW at the moment, it should return to a WNW or even W after 06:00, so maybe Newcastle will get a few showers again then as we did manage a few this morning.
