Im afraid you can't have everything ;)

From North easterlies the west barely gets a look in :p

Luckily my location does well from north westerlies and north easterlies :)

yup your right, we just have to deal with it. its the same reason why a n-easterly results in use getting hammered. still, i can see it out of the window on the hills :)

Rain Today showing beefy showers moving into the North west heading towards East Lancashire and West Yorkshire, my money with the cold creeping south and nightfall temp drops is on Snow.

Awful forecast for us in the Northeast :( Big downgrade from the dusting in most places from earlier,

Headline:

Frosty overnight. Feeling cold on Monday. Some snow showers.

This Evening and Tonight:

Showers of rain, sleet, and snow will continue overnight. Most of these will fall in Pennine districts, where 5 to 10cm of snow is possible above about 200m. Elsewhere, clear periods will lead to a widespread frost with icy patches. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Monday:

There will be plenty of sunshine for most but further showers of rain, sleet and snow are expected, Pennine districts most prone. Feeling cold with a gusty wind. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Updated: 1520 on Sun 4 Dec 2011

sounds about right, I would be surprised if we see anything significant in terms of ppn away from the upland areas. Unless we see some troughs then this the typical result from a PM flow in the NE I am afraid.

In these set-ups the showers usually die out or start dying out as they hit Leeds. I think east of leeds may see some snow falling from light showers, but to the west there should be some slight accumulations. Possibly light/moderate if hightened shower activity can coincide with the cold uppers (-5hpa ~ -7hpa) between 6am monday and 6am tuesday :)

Just looking for falling snow, not too fussed on settling snow at the moment

Looks like the Irish Sea has ran out of steam for now. Would love the cloud to clear for a while to allow temperatures to tumble!

Looks to be pepping up from a more northerly track.

Slight lull as you say Backtrack but the showers seem to come in at a quicker rate again once the trough passes through.

Yep, hopefully once the trough passes through they will start to become more organised again. On my iPhone at the minute, can't really access the GFS properly, too much effort. Are the showers starting to take more of a SE'erly track now as the flow is becoming more NW?

Ah that can only be a good thing for me then. If they're flowing from West to East the Welsh mountains seem to eat them before they get here!

i have seen thoise warnings countless times before in situations like this and woke up to plain old concrete when i opened the curtains.

i was planing a late 1 but i dont think i will be tbh.

Sounds very reasonable to me, away from the coastal parts of NW I think settling snow down to about 150M seems reasonable tonight. I think you will have some lying snow overnight, how long it lasts tomorrow is another story!!

Just been up over Hellvelyn via the edges, blizzard conditions at times, snow drifting up to 4/5 inches. Got my snow fix!

Only a bit of slushy stuff back home, temp 1.8c.
